Big Brother blogging?

May 4th, 2005 by Mark Bahnisch  |  Published in Culture, Life  |  22 Comments

Here’s the chance for some reader feedback. Prospective feedback. As a BB tragic, should I blog on it, or leave the BB blogging in the capable hands of Ausculture Jess?

Did I mention that I once had a relationship that began with BB goss, and as my then partner predicted, ended around the same time Gretel took her final bow because we only had this obsession in common?

Nic may be too high brow, but I am not althoughy BB has never really grabbed me. None of the teasing thus far has made me too enthusiastic but I will probably get sucked in. The blogosphere is an expanding pie, Mark, more than one person can blog on the same thing.

By all means go ahead if it fascinates you, though I’d have thought life is too short. But I’d be curious to know what the attraction is.

If you can do it better than Ausculturejess, why not?

    If you can’t, why bother?

The ‘sphere is ideal for specialisation. You do sociology of theology (amongst other things), and Jess (Bless!) does the deep, important stuff. Any minute now Jason Soon will mention comparative advantage and everyone will be happy.

I think Mark would do it remarkably different from Jess …. struggling ..for some …terms I vaguely…remember…. from high school economics (61/100 in the HSC)…. for an analogy … and anyway, that would be worthwhile. Same, same but different. Try as he might Mark just can’t cut it on the snark side, and I can’t see Jess tying it all to augustine theology and the rule of law in a critical social-evolutionary context. Talk about complementary.

Yeah, Amanda, Mark’s snark is worse than his bite. OTOH, I bet Jess could fo shizzle her Augustine theology if she applied herself.

Great. There’s this year’s ausculture.com theme blown out of the water!

    *sniffle*

I’ll be in my (virtual) trailer!

Life is too short. There are only so many notes one man can blow on a trombone. The night is darkest just before the dawn. The Logies would fail without sellotape.

See, I can do popular culture as well. Any inadequacies in the forgoing are caused by the fact that I don’t really care.

If you really are a BB tragic, go for it. If not… think of all that secular theology you will never get the time to play on your trombone.

    And so will I.
    Oh, and what Tiley said.

Screw it – what anyone said!
