Although in a less spectacular fashion than the efforts of our Southern grogblogging colleagues, the Brisvegas bloggers have been quietly meeting up for the occasional ale. Meetup.com has now decided to charge for its services. So we’ve migrated to Yahoo groups – which has the advantage of allowing for a more consensual and democratic decision making process than the “top down you must meet at least once a month and set an invariable meeting date and there must be an organiser” meetup.com format. What I’d like to encourage LP readers to do is to join the group. It’d be great if it wasn’t only bloggers who were involved in meeting up, but also blog commenters and readers. Here’s the challenge – prove Daniel Donahoo wrong and come along and touch elbows with us!

He does make some very pertinent points, particularly that influential people don’t blog. I’d go further to suggest that influential people don’t need to blog. There’s a certain painful truth in that if you stop to consider.

If I am ever in Brisbane it will be a pleasure to touch elbows with you all.
