Welcome to more new LP bloggers!

After last night’s welcome to Peter and Georg, I’m very pleased to announce that Laura from Sorrow at Sills Bend and frequent commenter Steve Edney will also be joining the LP team. More group bloggy goodness!

Update: And a big welcome also to Cristy from Two Peas, No Pod!

I’m going to petition the ACCC to hold an inquiry into creeping acquisitions in the Oz blogosphere.

  2. 2 MarkNo Gravatar

You should ask them to look into the Rafe virus spreading across libertarian blogs, Jason! How many blogs now count Rafe as a contributor?

  3. 3 Shaun CroninNo Gravatar

A big welcome to all! Mark, are we gonna have another welcoming party for the new additions? I still have some Llamas and purple body paint left over from last time.

  4. 4 MarkNo Gravatar

When Kim gets back from LA, Shaun - with the purple bondage apparatus… and the manual of secret Derridean codes for in jokes…

  5. 5 Jason SoonNo Gravatar

Yes I noticed that too, Mark. The Rafe virus has seeped out of Catallaxy into Troppo, Oysterium and Conjectures and Refutations.

  6. 6 MarkNo Gravatar

The question is - will Tony Abbott inoculate himself against the Rafe virus first or last, given that the pandemic is obviously here!

  7. 7 dk.auNo Gravatar

More LP bloggers, eh. Clearly Mark and his fellow cyber flusies have been around the block a few too many times.

I question the framing of this discussion around the mythical ‘virus’ of Rafe. Such discussions only serve to confirm my suspicion of a vacuous moral hubris in the community.

  8. 8 SteveNo Gravatar

Thanks for the welcome Mark and Naomi. I hope to post something both coherent and interesting sometime over the coming weeks.

  9. 9 Homer PaxtonNo Gravatar

but Rafe is a champion and part of the Soonshine blog.

does steve tell too many porkies? at least he is pink quite the hue for this blog!!

An alternative hypothesis, dk.au, is that Jason and I are joking!

Update And a big welcome also to Cristy from Two Peas, No Pod!

  12. 12 MindyNo Gravatar

Rubs hands with glee, looking forward to lots of good stuff to read and stoush over.

  13. 13 Jason SoonNo Gravatar

LP is the Woolworths of left-wing blogs. Soon, independent corner stores like John Quiggin will become a dying breed. Something has to be done now! Think of the children!!

I guess I needed to work in terms like ‘abortion’ and ‘anti-scientific moonbat obscurantism’ for the satire to actually work. Oh well. you live, you learn.

  15. 15 FyodorNo Gravatar

Nah, Jase. LP is the BORG [Bjorn? “It’s Swedish for You Will Be Assimilated” But I digress…] of left-wing blogs.

The name will soon be changed to Locutus Prodeo. No prizes for guessing which cyborg’ll be filling out Seven of Nine’s spray-on costume.

  16. 16 C.L.No Gravatar

    Locutus Prodeo.

    Ya gotta pay that.

  17. 17 harryNo Gravatar

…or who’ll volunteer for the spraying duties.

    [orderly queue]

  18. 18 david tileyNo Gravatar

What a great list! Now you lot, get to work..

ps - next problem is product differentiation.

  19. 19 LauraNo Gravatar

Thanks for the invite, folks, I’ll try not to lower the tone too conspicuously. This is active blog #6 for me - so David has a point…

  20. 20 ZoeNo Gravatar

Fyodor you are tops. Despite the fact you are poser pretend Trek lover, you come up with the best TNG joke ever.

    *stands, applauds*

  21. 21 CristyNo Gravatar

Thanks also for the invite. Another outlook through which to avoid my Phd. Excellent!

  22. 22 C.L.No Gravatar

I wish they’d bring back TNG. The Shield isn’t enough to fuel my own procrastination. There was ST Voyager, of course. The Federation gave a ship to a bird and she got lost. Be wary of Gillard, Australia.

  23. 23 Homer PaxtonNo Gravatar

    CL,
If you don’t stop bludging and talking to pinkos here and strt writing something at your blog you will be assimilated.

Voyager was hopeless until 7 of 9.

  24. 24 MarkNo Gravatar

The 7 of 9 cyborg I’m sure when she returns from LA (is she visiting Hollywood entities?) will be most flattered by Fyodor’s comment!

  25. 25 MarkNo Gravatar

C.L. - Why do you hate Gillard?

Warning - I think a comment I made at either BP, Surfdom or Troppo asking EP “Why do you hate Sweden?” started something…

From little comments, big injokes grow…

  26. 26 C.L.No Gravatar

Hate? I don’t hate anyone. There was no other prominent Labor woman appropriate for my Janeway comparison. That’s all, really. I do think she lacks the life experience and gravitas to be leader. But she seems a pleasant enough woman, as a person.

  27. 27 MarkNo Gravatar

    Joke, C.L.

Met her at a party in Carlton in 88. Nice and very bright person…

  28. 28 KimNo Gravatar

But I’d need a boob job to compete with 7 of 9! And I ain’t marrying any Republican senatorial hopefuls (or if I am - not complaining about the Paris strip club visits!)

  29. 29 FyodorNo Gravatar

Nah, Kim, you don’t. Don’t change a thing….apart from into the black leather catsuit…

Re: ST:V, gotta agree with CL.

    * sneering comic-book guy voice *

Janeway is hands-down the WORST. Starship. Captain. Ever. Even worse than that numbnut Scott Bakula played in Enterprise [yes, I’m including Enterprise, Mandachka].

I gather Janeway has a neat kitchen, however.

  30. 30 AmandaNo Gravatar

Enterprise? What is this Enterprise? Sorry, I have a complete blank on that concept.

    Janeway rocked.

  31. 31 Homer PaxtonNo Gravatar

was Ddoc Evatt a fan of DS9.
he wrote of the power in the Dominion(s)!

Now that was the best stat trek series

  32. 32 KimNo Gravatar

Ok, Fyodor, I’ll abandon my plans to retire from cruising around the Galaxy and idealistically take up teaching at a Boston public school…

  33. 33 FyodorNo Gravatar

Good grrl. You know it’s the right thing to do. Better than crusing around Gatallaxy, anyhoo.

  34. 34 KimNo Gravatar

But will I get to meet hot young English teachers?

  35. 35 Jason SoonNo Gravatar

    Whaddayatalkinbout???!!
Kim can cruise around Gatallaxy anytime

  36. 36 KimNo Gravatar

Cheers, Jason, see you next time I’m in the libertarian quadrant! (If the latter isn’t more of a Rafean zone?)

  37. 37 FyodorNo Gravatar

With less chance of temporary detention & interrogation now that the Chafer’s swanning about other sites.

  38. 38 KimNo Gravatar

Is there a clause in the Catallaxy Security Act 2005 that enables Rafe to round up suspected Stalin apologists for sedition?

  39. 39 dirtbikeoptionNo Gravatar

Looking foward to the contribution from the Pea, now definitely out of the Pod. Good work.
