There was a bit of discussion on the Saturday thread about the Aeon movie. I’m not sure I’ll even be able to bring myself to see it. All reports suggest that Aeon’s total individualism, her moral ambiguity (particularly in her very strange relationship with Trevor - which almost sums up the ambiguity of desire), her anarchist ideals, and importantly, her post-human body and most importantly, her lack ofcostume won’t be reproduced faithfully. Perhaps, though, the silver lining will be that the movie will send people back to, or just to, the animated series.
Trevor: The dream to awaken our world.
Aeon: You’re out of control.
Trevor: I take control. Whose side are you on?
Aeon: I take no sides.
Trevor: You’re skating the edge.
Aeon: I am the edge.
Trevor: What you truly want, I can give.
Aeon: You can’t give it, can’t even buy it, and you just don’t get it.
Ps: Read an interview with Aeon’s creator, Peter Chung, here.

nice one Kim. Personally, I liked the early episodes without dialogue best.
ps. you get my nomination for hotness blogger of the year
You linked to the wrong thread there honeychile. There was a better bigger, better and fruiter jam session about femme fatales on another thread just here recently.
Mmm, Charlize Theron.
*faints*
Admittedly, David, that’s one reason to see it!
Nabs, can you help me out with a link?
Dunno if people have looked at the Peter Chung interview - he’s pretty iffish about the film (I actually posted the link before I’d read it but he seems to have similar concerns!) and more interestingly, looks like the DVDs of the original Aeon have been changed to get rid of constraints MTV imposed.
Ps - thanks, dk.au
You Quote: Trevor: You’re skating the edge.

………I think that just about sums up how I feel about this movie release. YOU CAN’T EVEN BUY IT. What Aeon is about is just not in the vocabulary of hollywood these days.. maybe someday they will realise that people like Breakthrough films.. they go to see things they have never seen before.. we hunger for newness. But as of now they are hungry themselves.. for money, for profit, for the quick fix..and for power. Hmm sounds like an episode in the old mtv days doesn’t it? I went to see Aeon, I paid full price, I bought into what they wanted me to.. and oh boy did I regret it. Charlize is a strong woman on her own, a strong spirit. She can carry alot of roles. But she is now.. she is today. She is NOT a futuristic character. I felt bad that she was in this film because it took away from her talents. It took from the character Aeon, the other characters AND the actors too. Wow. A four star try though.. but it won’t be my money buying anything they sell. They just don’t “get it”.

Bueno, es otro ejemplo de como las adaptaciones son un fiasco. La pelicula es solo otro melodrama; nada que ver con la serie.
Making a movie out of Aeon Flux is pure abominable humiliation to this magnificent masterpiece.
It was drawn just because it simply cannot be filmed, simple as that.
Drawing rules here more than any place else.
Long life to Peter Chung, fuck hollywood money-morons!!
