The Lovebug Rodeo. My mum used to drive a VW Beetle back in the 70s! (Emblazoned with “It’s Time” and “Shame, Fraser, Shame” stickers).
Thanks, Debauched sloth.
Ps: Don’t forget to vote in the Australian Blog Awards. Unlike certain other blogs who will remain shameless, we are not running a campaign or offering sexual or other inducements. But I’m sure, if elected by the acclaim of our peers, we will serve…

Ahh man, you have to register. That blows. Also LP ain’t on the list of “Best Australian Blogs”. That poll is bogus, Mark.
Thanks. A few glasses of Pinot do wonders for one’s ability to free associate.
And which blogs are offering sexual inducements? I need to know for … um … educational purposes.
Follow the links from the nominations, Andrew – as I said, they will remain shameless!
Rex – it is worth participating. The registration process isn’t complex, and it’s the only Blog Awards that is internal to the sphere and Australian not commercial and/or American.
LP’s nominated in lots of other categories!
I got to say LPs not in the best Australian Blog – sure I don’t know all of them on the list but its better than some that are on (by my 100% objective measure), and then when I go to political blogs no catallaxy despite it being like the third most popular leftiod rightwing blog.
I agree with T Rex. bogus poll and can’t be bothered registering without those options.
I don’t see that, Steve. It was open to you to make nominations. I prefer something where readers actually nominate their favourites rather than some (inevitably subjective) judgement by a panel as to what’s best. I agree about Catallaxy, but my point stands.
Kimberella nominated LP in numerous categories – best new blog, best collaborative blog, best political blog, best Queensland blog, and perhaps one or two others (can’t remember). No doubt it was modesty that led to her ommission of us in the best blog category.
A lot of LP bloggers’ and commenters’ personal blogs are also entered in various categories.
Actually when I looked ages ago I thought LP had been nominated for best blog, but obviously not. I will admit bogus is a bit strong, but still think its not great.
With the occasional discussions of cricket that occur here in mind, and after last night’s collapse to Brett Lee’s bowling, perhaps LP could now be known as “Laugh at us Proteas”…?
LP….33 1/3 revolutions per minute
Got to say, I have very mixed feelings about the blog awards too. There’s only a really tiny slice of possible candidates nominated & the reason must be that three-quarters of the Australian blogging populace didn’t know about them. So it will be pretty miraculous if if turns out as anything more than a popularity contest.
Next year they should make voting compulsory and give away cars to the winners.
