Yes, at the Tropicana Cafe in Darlinghurst.

However, there were still thousands of people around Australia that were able to see all of the films and so I think they should have still been able to vote for the people’s choice award, despite the fact that the Sydney screening was cut short by rain (and lightening). The end result is that no one received the award at all, which doesn’t seem like a great solution.

I agree Jen, I think that the people’s choice award should have still been granted. I would have been interested to see who won.

in melbourne, tropfest is held at the myer music bowl. i find it silly that the people’s choice award was cancelled because the sydney live audience did not get to see the last 4 (?) films because of the rain. everyone that voted across the rest of the country apparently doesn’t count. lovely. i’ve emailed the tropfest folks about this… wonder what/if they will reply.

The free DVDs will be in the Age on the 4th of March I think.

The festival was also showing in Melbourne, but I am not sure where. I went to see it in Canberra and had a really good night out. The only other time I have been along was a couple of years ago in Hobart, which was also a really fun evening.

I’d highly recommend it for next year Laura.

I’m not in Sydney so I did not go along, but I did see that The Age is giving out a free DVD of at least a selection of the entries - from memory that’s accompanying next Saturday’s paper.

Or maybe it was last Sunday’s. Sorry I’m not much help am I? Maybe someone else knows the proper details. Anyway I’d like to catch up with Tropfest, it’s always interesting.
