Keane is a very interesting political philosopher, and I’d certainly go along if I were in Sydney this week.
Spiffy purple bow tie he has too!
Speaking of the Foundation, where is Christopher lately? Was hoping for Bledisloe and Keef/Pirates of the Caribbean posts.
He appears to be having another hiatus, C.L.
It would be great is there was a central website that listed all upcoming public lectures and forums for each city.
Seconded.
Nice to see JK apearing here. The founder of the research centre where I work and a very charismatic and enjoyable person to be around.
1. You going to be there Kim?
2. Is there a dress code?
3. Can you get a ticket at the door?
1. No, Comrade Graeme, I’m in Brisbane.
2. Purple bow tie?
3. I don’t know - but the phone number and email address of the organisers are in the post so you could ask them.
What are you doing up in Brisbane?
Well I aint going then. Purple bow tie?
Not much for open debate these people. If I did go I’d trash the place and then shake them down for the cost of my purple bow tie.
Shoot.
Next these people will be making like Sloan Rangers or Star-Belly Sneeches.
I live in Brisbane, Comrade Graeme.
I was only joking about the purple bow tie.
But do tell, what exactly is a “Star-Belly Sneech”?
Well thats a shame sister. You always made references to Sydney.
I want you to find the story of the Sneeches-with-the-stars on their bellys and the ones who had “none upon thars”
You weren’t brought up right Kim.
But don’t sweat it.
Few girls brought up on indoor plumbing were.
So Birdy is a country boy is he?
While I am relatively new to this mode of interaction, I fail to understand how “PanelbeaterBird” or your other manifestations adds anything to anything.
If I may be so bold. You need to get your hand off it!
Put simply, it would seem you are trying to be a goose and doing it very well. Has success come later in life?
You really need to get a life.
If I was in a cynical mood I might say: Try playing on the road; skydiving without a parachute; etc.
Why is it so hard to be civil?
Is it the case you have created a personna and you can’t escape your own creation?
To be fair, wpd, while PBB can be quite a troll in other places, I think he was just trying to make conversation with Kim on this thread, I didn’t read anything hostile. I think by ‘you weren’t brought up right’ he meant not knowing this fable about the snitches (which I would still like to hear about).
I bow to your superior knowledge/insight. But are you suggesting that this is just an attempt to ‘chat her up’?
“But are you suggesting that this is just an attempt to ‘chat her up’?”
Yep.
The mind boggles. Is GMB trying to turn back science, as espoused by Kim, some days ago?
Jason, Kim — the “Sneeches” are a story from Dr. Seuss, one of his later, more practical, tactical and oh-so-didactical allegories, thus a bit less fun than the pure mysterious romps like “Cat in the Hat” and “Green Eggs and Ham.” Well, ‘Green Eggs’ and ‘Grinch’ have their didactic side, I suppose, but they can be forgiven for their pure zizz.
But nothing beats the Cat!
Yes, wpd, I took it as Birdy flirting with me. I breathlessly await the news about whether Anna is still TEH GODDESS OF REASON.
j_p_z, thanks for that. Birdy is correct - I wasn’t brought up on Dr Seuss.
So you been to school
For a year or two
And you know you’ve seen it all
In daddy’s car
Thinkin’ you’ll go far
Back east your type don’t crawl
Play ethnicky jazz
To parade your snazz
On your five grand stereo
Braggin’ that you know
How the niggers feel cold
And the slum’s got so much soul
It’s time to taste what you most fear
Right guard will not help you here
Brace yourself, my dear
It’s a holiday in cambodia
It’s tough, kid, but it’s life
It’s a holiday in cambodia
Don’t forget to pack a wife
You’re a star-belly sneech
You suck like a leech
You want everyone to act like you
Kiss ass while you bitch
So you can get rich
But your boss gets richer off you
Well you’ll work harder
With a gun in your back
For a bowl of rice a day
Slave for soldiers
Till you starve
Then your head is skewered on a stake
Now you can go where people are one
Now you can go where they get things done
What you need, my son
Is a holiday in cambodia
Where people dress in black
A holiday in cambodia
Where you’ll kiss ass or crack
Pol pot, pol pot, pol pot, pol pot, etc.
And it’s a holiday in cambodia
Where you’ll do what you’re told
A holiday in cambodia
Where the slum’s got so much soul
Hey, thanks. I wonder whether Comrade Bird will consider that I’ve been properly brought up now that I’ve read that!
