In US terms, it's a political tsunami. A Democrat win in both houses of the US Congress (and let's not get ahead of ourselves, this is a tough ask) could mean Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld get impeached. This is the only reason why otherwise sensible Australians should care about Foley, 'macaca', firefighters in Montana, or the Senate race in Rhode Island.
