For your last minute steel guitar David Bowie cover needs…

I’m almost ashamed to admit, given the mad incitements and enticements to buy buy buy and thereby send kid(s) from Guangzhou to uni from “Caroline Overington Blog”, that a large part of my week has been focussed on the ever elusive search for the perfect Christmas presents for friends and family. But, if like me, (and Pavlov’s Cat), you’ve noticed that alt.country circa 2006 includes a compulsory cover of a David Bowie song, and you’ve been searching for that hard to find steel guitar cover of Modern Love, you can’t go past The Last Town Chorus

Nice find Mark. I’ll check more of her stuff out. You can never have too much lap steel guitar.

    Good stuff.

Does anybody else find it creepy and weird that Ms Ove apparently believes that it to be right and proper for 13 year olds to believe in Santa?

I picture Ms Ove as an exitable ghost at the News Ltd Christmas feast party shrieking “consume, consume, capitalism depends on it!” while spilling champers on Christopher in the course of bemoaning the fact that she can’t stay too long at the party because she’s not allowed to have an indentured slave to look after her kids…

Forget Scrooge. There are just two things to remember at Christmas: it’s a celebration of the life of Christ (contrary to what you may read elsewhere, Christ is not forgotten at this time of year and, if you don’t believe me, just try getting a decent spot in the pew on Christmas Eve.)

    Bring back pay for pew!

The blog response isn’t half bad. I think Eddie Perfect is going to have to come up with a new song:

“Caroline, don’t you ever think these things through before you hit the “enterâ€? key?”

“I think that your desperation to get hits on your blog has led you into an ever-increasing cycle of embarrassing stupidity.”

“Caroline - you must truly be one of the most vacuous people on the planet.”

    “Who is this ditz?”

“Caroline, that is the most mindless piece of tripe I have ever had the misfortune to read.”

“Leave satire to The Chaser. They’re much better at it.”

“Oh Caroline, you’ve done it again. You are not so much a fount of either knowledge or wisdom, as an olympic pool with two shallow ends!”

“A fabulous bit of ironic humour. No-one could possibly be this vapid or non-sensical, so it must be irony.”

Just what is News Ltd’s blog strategy?

    Ahem.

I name-dropped The Last Town Chorus in the “2006: The Music” thread last week-end. Kudos moi.

Just what is News Ltd’s blog strategy?

At least she’s pretending not to be a bimbo unlike Fairfax’ Sam and the City?

    Or…

She makes more sense than the Bolta?

Glad you raised that Mark. Sadly, since the advent of Blogocracy, I’ve been sucked back into the Boltaverse and Ackerworld (on the basis of ‘I wonder what those c*ckheads are saying now. Oh look, there’s a link. I’ll just have the one puff’.)

I think the above disdainful style of comment is the way to go. It’s time teh LP hivemind organised a Christmas swarm.

Sigh. I wanted to tackle Ove over at the apple barrel in my neverending quest to bring her down, but I think it was just too, too much. It’s like, how much can you publically shame somebody before it just feels like you’re banging you’re head against a brick wall? At the end of the day she’s still getting paid to write her nonsensical, right wing rubbish - and that makes me cry.

Oh, and yes it’s totally creepy that she thinks 13 year olds should believe in Santa. What I don’t get is how she justifies her rabid belief in capitalist exploitation with her love for Jesus. Memo to Ove - Jesus kicked the stallholders OUT of the temple.

Yep, she really sucked with that post.

Will Ms Ove be blogging her midnight mass attendance? Readers want verification!
