ABC 2
For those viewers outside NSW, wherever you are in Australia, ABC2 will be broadcasting the election coverage from the tally room from 6.30pm (local time all states).

ABC2 is the ABC's Free To Air Digital Channel which can be recieved by the purchase of a Set Top Box, which are realiy available for under $100 from the major retail emporiums.

Which is good news for us political Junkies in WA etc :-)

Jack Strocchi:

The SMH reports Professor Israeli, an expert on Islamic history from Hebrew University in Jerusalem

Gee, this wouldn't happen to be the same Professor Israeli who was dumped by the Australia/Israel & Jewish Affairs Council for his "unacceptable and unhelpful" remarks, would it?

Israeli is a racist eliminationist; the very personification of the "loony fringe".

We'll overlook it this time Chris, but if it happens again you'll be tied down in the comfy chair while every single speech the Prime Minister has ever made is played at you.

I'm a cruel man, but fair.

Thanks for that arleeshar...the article points me to debnamrecord.com which has it listed as a TV ad. I've watched it 5 or 6 times already.

I NEVER watch political ads 5 or 6 times. This one is actually funny.

Has this actually been on TV, or is it a YouTube only thing?

I thought it was net only too, but the SMH had this in-depth "debnam the man" piece] in its saturday edition which mentioned that the reporter actually sat in the lounge room with the debnam family and watched their reactions as the "in the navy" ad flashed across the screen.

First, it's interesting that Nile has given up attacking the Mardi Gras and has now turned on the Muslims. Extending the Defacto Relationships Act to gay couples could be closer than you think.

Second, the story Shaun cites is the problem with goldfish-bowl political reporting: this is what the Libs have done for the last three elections. Between elections, you send a message: at elections you make a decision. At each of the past three elections the decision has been: cheer up, it could be worse.

Politicians love to claim to be the underdog, but now that Debnam is clearly in that position he's starting to look desperate. Debnam getting snarly recalls John Hewson losing it in '93 - but it's not all down to him. It's amazing that State Liberal leaders actually listen to people from Howard's office, because Howard explicitly does not want Liberal governments at the state level drawing campaign funds, limelight and power away from himself.

This is a perfect chance for people to send a message to the majors and vote for a third party like the Democrats, Greens or even one of the Right Wing ones. Face it, both state Labor and Liberals need a good kick up the pants.
