"The strip club affair has a predictably negative effect on Labor’s chances, according to the betting markets.

Labor’s odds have blown out from $1.52 all the way to $1.54."

They are back at $1.52.

Unless there's a video of Kev snorting some coke that the Liberals are saving up, the New York night club affair will be the high (or low, depending on your point of view) point in their dirt campaign.

Roll on the election.

Here's one for any ALP campaign team members strolling by the intertubes:

Question: Isnt it high time we saw ALP offsiders like Swan, Tanner and Gillard (leave Rudd out for now) add the following repeat ad nauseum talking point:

“I think people are tired of watchng the government re-election ads, and tired of paying for them

“people are tired of the government forcing taxpayers to fund their re-election ads

If they find in Haneef's favour I wonder what the next stunt from the government will be to keep in exile?

Maybe the dirt unit that dug up Kevin07's visit to the strip club four years ago is beavering away looking for some more dirt on Haneef? In this day and age, sources can remain anonymous while all the mud gets merrily flung.

Accompanied with the deadpan "I don't have a comment to make on that".

I think Emma Alberici would be a great PM.

Given the way that 'the market' is personified with claims such as, 'the Market thinks' or 'the market says', it would not surprise me if that claim is not put up as an example of how imperfect markets can be.

The strip club affair has a predictably negative effect on Labor's chances, according to the betting markets.

Labor's odds have blown out from $1.52 all the way to $1.54.

The core of Howard's campaign scripted and is now revealed in daylight - PM to push nationalism as best basis for state relations

Here are some codewords and themes:

"aspirational nationalists" = police state interventionists - overriding the Constitution at will

"neither centralists nor believers in states' rights" = make it up as we go with Executive (Ministers) doing what they please, with no accountability to Parliament

"carefully put-together co-operative federalism" = bullying and wedging will be standard practice

"people should have the right to express a view" = but not on anything that the Commonwealth does

Commonwealth "reserved the right all along to legislate for a single regulator if the co-operative approach with the states did not deliver better outcomes = jackboots

The apparatus of a police state is being assembled with gusto.

SatP, the fact that the media gives headlines to exagerated stories about politicians' misbehaviour just shows what sorts of things the media consider 'news'. You are probably right that Hanson would get more media headlines if she got into the Senate - she already gets more headlines now with her regular displays of bullying and bigotry. I'm not sure how this is a good thing for the public, unless you think more junk news is good for people. No doubt heaps of media headlines of this type add up to better ratings and sales for the media, but I'm not sure how it means better representation or better laws for the general public.

I appreciate that you don't think concern about torturing children by jailing them for years in places like Baxter is a matter of concern, but hundreds of of thousands of Australians do, and I think its important that those concerns are represented. Given that I share those concerns about protecting children, preventing detention without charge or trial, defending the underdog, standing up to bullies and thugs, etc, it's only reasonable that I publicly support them (although I should note I never joined in any of the protests at the gates of Baxter because I thought they were counter-productive). The fact that you believe these people are somehow not Australians indicates very little except that how deeply antagonistic to democracy you are.

Strip Clubs are a bit skanky for my tastes. I’m more a lap-dancing club man, myself.

And we should care, why?

I thought you were a gay man. If not, why did you consistently post here under the moniker "Leftist Queers"?

Or does "troll" constitute a sexuality of its own?

If it's not enough that we bring in American campaigning techniques, now we have to bring in their narrative devices - expect a counter with 'three days from retirement' Pete Costello taking a bullet.
