Barack who?

Go to Google News at the moment and you’ll discover that there are currently 604 articles about Ms Britney losing custody of her kiddies.  Oddly, someone called Barack Obama has managed a whopping 756 news articles in relation to the thesis that Mrs Clinton is a “presumptive Democratic nominee for the White House”.  Britney and Hillary have a few things in common, including hair colour, singing ability and bad taste in blokes (see, for example, K-Fed and Bill-C).  We know too much about both Brit and Hill’s private lives – whatever a private life is these days, and it doesn’t take a genius like me to know that one of the aforementioned blonde females is going to be on the front cover of the next edition of Who Weekly. “Shock, horror: Britney loses children to bad rapper and so-called serious newspapers continue their love affair with celebrity culture”.

Bill is handsome but he is not appropriate husband material, I’m sure you’d agree. Besides have you heard Bill Clinton rap? Yikes.

So you’re saying that people will actually come to your house, take your kids away, feed, wash and clothe them and this doesn’t cost any additional money than what I pay in taxes anyway? Where’s the downside? What’s the catch? =)

    It’s all good, skribe.

    Interesting avatar by the way.

Incidentally, the Britney loses custody news article count is now up to 731.

    Oops, I did it again.

not appropriate husband material? go on! I’d marry him. If, you know, it were legal and all.

Indeed, Barry: not everyone believes that sexual fidelity is the sine qua non of matrimony. In terms of fascinating companionship and fulfilling his share of fiscal and parenting responsibilities, there’s nothing wrong with Bill as husband material. That his infidelities became a public scandal must be distressing, particularly for a family devoted to seeking public office, but that doesn’t mean that the infidelity per se was a betrayal of trust.

I really feel sorry for Britney’s kids. She’s obviously a mess at the moment, but she probably will grow out of it. Their dad, although he seems to have stepped up to the mark as Brit fell apart, wasn’t much of a star parent either. Gilded misery.

Obama, Clinton and Edwards all want to ramp up the military as does Krudd down here. So maybe the serious papers are onto something. Orwell says its a constant struggle to see the cure is sometimes worse than the disease. ( OK – I ‘m being frivolous – so spank me mistress Darlene. Spank me)

Gee Barry, marriage is such a patriarchal institution, but if you want to marry him go for it.

Yes, be careful what you wish for. It’s seems Britney’s mum was a bit of a “stage mom.

No, can’t do that, but interesting point about the ramping up of the military. Mmmm, someone more in the know than me (everybody) should write a post about that.

    Didn’t seem like a friv

I get regular e-mails from the Barack Obama campaign because eons ago I sent him an e-mail apologising on behalf of Oz for JWH’s unwarranted interference in US domestic politics with his criticisms of said Obama. Since then I’ve been solicited for donations, invited to rallies in New York and other places and to campaign dinners, all at my own expence of course.
After sending several e-mails telling them I’m an Australian citizen and not allowed to vote in US elections, I decided, what the hell, and started sending off some pretty radical suggestions Barack might adopt in US foreign policy, mainly to do with lessening the tentacles of global politics. Despite this I kept getting e-mails. One on Osama Ben Laden was so interesting, I sent it all around the world. But I can’t remember what was in it.
I get this really warm feeling now and then, that because of Barack Obama, I’m contributing to world peace or something. I never got any replies to my foreign policy suggestions, just more invitations to campaign dinners and more requests for donations.
Re Britney, even the Packer Puppets on the Today Show were getting a bit shamefaced about reporting on her woes this morning. I just feel; sorry for her.

Ooops! global politics should read global capitalism.

That’s fabbo. Good on you for doing that. Paul Burns may shape the future of the world. Did you receive a standard response to your email?

“Re Britney, even the Packer Puppets on the Today Show were getting a bit shamefaced about reporting on her woes this morning. I just feel; sorry for her.”

Yes, it’s really nasty stuff. She’s just a young person really.

Yeah, Darlene. just a standard reply. I doubt Obama even saw it. Though, going on some of his latest statements, he could very well be one of those vast majority of Australians who think GWB and his crew are utter whackos.

While the latte-sippers’ Bible does the responsible thing and buries the Britney story who-knows-where on its site, intrepid Guardianistas are still able to sniff it out and make it the most viewed article (as at 1216 AEST today). Maybe Who Weekly knows its readership better than the Guardian does?

  15. 15 DarleneNo Gravatar

Yes, it certainly is at the top. I think you’re right. Perhaps Who readers are just more honest.

It’s always interesting to observe those top read posts and see which ones come out on top.
