As well as serving up our normal diet of commentary and analysis of the federal election, LP will also be coming to the citizen journalism party during the six weeks of the campaign. Some of our regular bloggers live in key marginals – Suz in Wentworth, Shaun Cronin in Dobell and Anna Winter in Stirling, and we’re going to be joined by guest seat/state bloggers Trevor Cook in North Sydney, Anais Chevalier in Kingston and Audrey Apple giving us an overview of the contest in South Australia generally.
We’d love to have someone on board from both Tasmania and the Northern Territory, so if you’re interested, drop us a line!
I’ll be covering the Queensland campaign for Crikey, and also blogging on particular policy areas at New Matilda’s election blog PollieGraph, along with my core blogger colleagues Ben Eltham and Helen Razer and a multitude of others.
We’re also hoping to highlight the Senate campaign, a crucial contest which as Andrew Bartlett rightly observes, is far too often overlooked.
We hope readers will join in – any tips, local knowledge, inside info, goss or whatever is gratefully solicited!
Elsewhere: There’s an interesting take from some of my QUT Creative Industries colleagues on the role of blogging in the election over at gatewatching.
Please also note LP’s election year statement.
Ps: On the topic of citizen journalism, don’t forget to visit our friends at YouDecide2007 regularly. And on the topic of blogging, unsurprisingly there are tons of “election called” posts all round the shop so I’m only going to link to three which I think are particularly apt – from Barista, Zoe and comicstriphero.

I am standing for the LDP in Solomon, and I’ve set a website/blog:

I’ll try and keep a diary of how it all goes. I need people to help out. I reckon that the LP crowd would be ideal to keep a nasty libertarian like me as honest as poss, so please come over and let me know what you think.
