Goodbye Adelaide, hello Brisneyland!

I’m home now. Here’s some Adelaide photos… (some of which show a rather quirky side to the city)

    Idea for Christmas present:
“GPS-Photo Link is .. Windows software to link digital camera photos with the latitude and longitude of the photo position. A GPS receiver .. links the time stamp of GPS data, with the time stamp of the camera…will work with any camera that stores date and time in the photo”

    Welcome back.

About the photos – OK, OK, we believe you. You really *were* in Adelaide and not at a clandestine meeting in the underground lair of the uber-blogging cabal that is going to take over the world via teh interwebs.

Maybe he was doing both. The underground lair might be in Adelaide!!!

“The underground lair might be in Adelaide!!!”

Can you have a hole in a hole, but?

Snowtown taught us that indeed you can, Jack – a hole in a hole in a hole even.

oh, those just made me so homesick. For a city I couldn’t wait to get out of, no less.

Nic – The Worst of Perth has been doing the same for me.

Thanks, WoP – although perhaps better to comment on your actual site!

Oi! Adelaide is a complicated mistress, but a hole she ain’t. She may not have the flashy lights of other cities, but she keeps me warm at night.

Nice pics, Mark. Particularly that one of Elder Hall looking tragic in the rain.

Friends of ours are moving to Brisvegas in the new year. They will be renting and are looking for a house, 3-4 bedrooms, nice area, close to primary schools and the city. What suburbs would Brisbanites recommend they look in?

I’m with nic and also Audrey – the pics make me very homesick, particularly of my beloved uni, and though I also left Madame Adelaide a few years ago, I always find her ample bosom warm and welcoming upon each return.

If moving slower than other cities is the price is pays to maintain its friendliness, cleanliness, beautiful coastline and f$%k-off Shirazes, then so be it.

Thanks, Dr Cat. And what Audrey and others said about Adelaide!

What suburbs would Brisbanites recommend they look in?

Mindy, rentals are horrendous in Brisbane at the moment so a good starting point would probably be budget. “Close to the city” is gonna cost really big bucks for a house unfortunately.

I suspect ‘close to the city’ might be dropping off the list then. They can probably go to around $500 per week, since it’s a work thing.

Try somewhere around Buranda/Annerley/Greenslopes – should fit the criteria and about 5ks from the city – houses around $350 a week.

Thanks Mark, I will let them know.

No probs, Mindy. Buranda State School is apparently excellent! And it’s a nice part of the world.
