Well, not really, but I hope the charges possibly laid against him are substantive ones and not just related to being an idiot. (It’s difficult to tell whether he has in fact been charged and if so, with what offence or offences as Victorian law prevents the names of the “two teenagers” being released, though his arrest was apparently not subject to any reporting restrictions).
There are actually some serious issues here.
First, while I’m all for individual responsibility, I don’t see why the Victorian Police have a right to bill anyone for doing their job and still less to charge one individual for property damage he can’t solely have been responsible for. By all means proceed against individuals against whom concrete facts can be alleged, but some sort of exemplary punishment seems ludicrously contrary to any notions of due process, and for that matter, the presumption of innocence. David Hicks was someone a lot of people might have thought reasonably to have been acting foolishly, and though the scope of the miscarriage of justice in the Hicks case far exceeded in seriousness what’s going on here, as far as I’m aware, there are idiots who are 66 as well as 16, and lacking judgement or being a dropkick is not a crime in and of itself.
Secondly, it’s not all the fault of the intertubes. I remember parties getting out of control when I was a teenager in the 80s, and uninvited yobs turning up, and kids doing dumb things like smashing garden gnomes and urinating on cars. No doubt it’s very unpleasant for all concerned, and shouldn’t be condoned, but surprise, surprise, stuff happened before text messages and Myspace existed.
Thirdly, the coverage of all this by the media is beyond belief. There’s a complete timeline up to midday today in Crikey, for those who want to review it. Particularly if there are laws preventing publicity for underage offenders, it seems to me that news organisations had no duty to assist Corey Delaney in making a fool of himself, and given his age, a positive duty to refrain from doing so.
Corey’s irresponsibility is mirrored by that of the media and the absurd nanny-statist Laura Norder-ism that state governments are so prone to.

Isn’t a party getting out of hand the theme of at least 25% of all 80’s teen flicks?
Yep!
According to tonight’s TV news one of the charges is distributing child pron.
That’s on the web too, but it’s impossible to know who’s been charged with that. Given that the assumption will no doubt be made that it was Corey Delaney, this seems all the more reason why the media should never have allowed him his fifteen minutes of fame, and the simultaneous lynching.
Geez the media is pathetic … how can this non-story still be getting coverage.
Jump on a minor story and go feral on it - a pack mentality forms and each media outlet just keeps reporting on it. Chasing a immature 16yo around with camera’s and interviews - what sought of ethical standards do the media have - none apparently.
The media pack going feral seems to be a common occurence - last week it was the cricket controversy - nonstop leading story for a week!
Maybe they can bust him for wearing that hat and those glasses.
Particularly if there are laws preventing publicity for underage offenders, it seems to me that news organisations had no duty to assist Corey Delaney in making a fool of himself, and given his age, a positive duty to refrain from doing so.
Yep, there are laws in Victoria - the Children, Youth & Families Act of 2005 prevents under-agers involved with the law from being identified by media outlets.
This law was enforced (in 2005 or 2006, if memory serves), and several media outlets were fined tens of thousands of dollars for ignoring the requests of the Melbourne Children’s Court to refrain from publishing on a legal matter.
I loved this response from a radio listener:
“Caller Morrie says he wants to blame John Howard for the whole thing, and the reason children have no discipline now is that they are brought up in childcare centre because it is necessary for their mothers to work”
Fantastic. So now we know why. I wouldnt quesiton any further and leave it at that.
But, if I had to consider it further I would say, Mark you are right, the media is quite to blame. Corey shows all the beautifully clueless amorality of a kid who is thrust into the limelight and is encouraged and rewarded, yes rewarded for his amorality. (He has been offered all sorts of jobs, flights you name it) His performances fit directly into the teenage stereotype of the spoilt aimless youth with a lack of conscience. We love those stories. Without this unabashed refusal to be ashamed, there would be absolutely no story. Its feeding our well worn tropes of deviant youth. God we’re boring.
The Victorian Police should review their procedures, and the Victorian government need to review the entire police/public order thing.
Victorian police: What a bunch of sissies, letting a mob of kids put it over them.
Victorian police: What a bunch of sissies, unable to prevent a mob of kids from damaging neighbors property and smashing up police cars.
Victorian government: Should be hanging their heads in shame for allowing this to happen on their watch.
Thank god I am a Queenslander!
There’s plenty to be said about young Corey, and plenty to say about the interview ACA did with him on Monday night. It was a joke and he treated it as such. If I’d been spoken to like an idiot the way he was, I’d be just as dismissive of the “questions” put to him.
I don’t have a TV and don’t know the kid. But he seems a typical enough avatar for the collective testament to today’s all pervasive pride in bad manners and pseudo tough-guy bullshit as fed by cheap speed and 50 cent albums. Over the last couple of years Melbourne Saturday nights have turned into Lord of the Flies. I actually expect to witness extreme violence.

Transportation. It’s what made this country. I say we bring it back. Send ‘em to Clavius. Give them a grant of land and some tools. They shall work or starve. (Or even fly off into space it’s all good).
>
Hah! That’ll show these Gen Y miscreants. Let’s see ‘em compulsively texting then.
PS Corey Delany is a little shit. I don’t advocate public flogging. But if it happened to him I don’t think I could muster too enthusiasm for protest.
Please do not mention the teenager previously known as C.D. because someone in Victoria, reading, might gather who he was. Police have capsicum, zucchini and cauliflower spray if you need a little help in understanding.
Victoria, still garden state to the nation.
Casey #8 - I have some sympathy with too much work to be a parent argument but from my observations it just seems that people are opting out of being parents. They bribe their kids to behave, message act like a shit and you’ll get a reward. Casey’s just following the plan.
The Money Quote: CD “The neighbors got nothin to complain about, they was warned that a party’d be on here!”
The kid is an immature 16 year old. When I was an immature 17/18 year old in Sydney I went to quite a few parties in inner Sydney that got way out of control and most of the people who went to them were way older than me. You disn’t need text messages or Myspace. You just went5 down to the Royal George or the United States or the Criterioon and told people there was a party on.
Re the child porn - what’s the bet its 15/16 year olds taking nude or semi-nude photos of each other, and maybe even posting it one the net. It seems the logical conclusion.
If they locked people up for being idiots the whole country would have been in gaol at one time or another.Even JWH or Kevin Rudd.
I liked the bit where he held up firmly for to his right to wear those shades.
They are “famous”…
That makes sense, Paul. It suggests they were struggling to find something to charge him or the other person with.
The SMH editor who referred to Corey as ‘famous’ rather than ‘infamous’ is more of a problem than Corey or celebrity shonk Max Markson, who was quoted as saying he plans to represent him. I don’t think Corey needs Markson, with journalists already practically playing pimp/promoter for him!
“Casey #8 - I have some sympathy with too much work to be a parent argument but from my observations it just seems that people are opting out of being parents. They bribe their kids to behave, message act like a shit and you’ll get a reward. Casey’s just following the plan.”
Well actually it was the ‘blame John Howard bit’ I found a bit funny….but Im sure you mean that Corey is following the plan, cause Casey sure as hell is beyond it, sigh. What would it be like to be Corey? all young and pain in the arse cool, all dressed up in crappy sunnies and fur trimmed snow jacket in the height of summer with no where to go verve, all 15 minutes of trash tv fame and noteriety….God I feel sorry for Corey. Pretty soon he will be putting out a song with lyrics that go something like this:
I’m Mrs. Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous
You want a piece of me?
I’m Mrs. “Oh My God! That Britney’s Shameless!”
You want a piece of me?
I’m Mrs. “Extra! Extra! This Just In!”
You want a piece of me?
I’m Mrs. “She’s Too Big, Now She’s Too Thin”
You want a piece of me?
A bit OT, but is child porn really child porn when subject, sender and recipient are all peers?
Mark,
Indeed. Apart from engaging in a mass litterring project near his home, and bothering the cops with 500 probably outrageous yoof of both genders too drunk to get the message they should go home at 2am in the morning or something, he has actually seriously embarrased the Victorian constabulary over several days. What’s the bet the first thing the cops said to him when they sat him down inm the interview room was, “Boy, it’s payback time!” And I’ll bet they weren’t talking about the fortune he cost his parents.
How fucking dare anyone out there make fun of Corey after all he has been through.!
He lost his home, he went through hell. He had two fuckin parents.
His friends turned out to be a users, wankers, and now he’s facing kiddie pron charges. All you people care about is….. readers and making money off of him.
HE’S A HUMAN! (ah! ooh!) What you don’t realize is that Corey is making you all this money and all you do is write a bunch of crap about him.
He hasn’t performed on this kind of stage before. His sthick is called “give me more for a reason because all you people want is MORE! MORE-MORE, MORE: MORE!.
LEAVE HIM ALONE! You are lucky HE even put on a party for you BASTARDS!
LEAVE COREY ALONE!…..Please.
The papers talked about responsibility and said if Corey was a responsible he would’ve pulled it off no matter what.
Speaking of responsibility, when is it responsible to publicly bash someone who is going through a hard time.
Leave Corey Alone Please…. !
Leave Corey Delaney alone!…right now!….I mean it.!
Anyone that has a problem with him you deal with me, because he is not well right now.
LEAVE HIM ALONE!
The person in question is a minor. If he had engaged in unlawful acts and appeared in Court his identity would be protected. And that’s the correct course of action.
The MSM have exploited this ‘minor’ in all senses of the terms and should feel the full force of the law.
But they won’t.
I hope the media can be charged (THR #7) for making a mountain out of mole hill. Why, oh, why, do they insist on making famous someone who will relish it.
I hope his parents make him responsible for the costs (if they end up wearing any). I’m sure that the only way this particular young person (or any other) will think before they act is to feel it in the hip pocket.
It was the least I could do. Victoria already has Bruce Ruxton.
And New South Wales has Alan Jones.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/01/16/2140068.htm
No wonder they are a laughing stock.
While I also question the newsworthiness of this topic, I think it’s important to note that early news reports that identified the teenager would have been published before allegations of criminal behavior were made. It’s possible the media began to cut out his name as they became away of the fact (The Age article mentions they can’t identify him). Although I think the cat was more than halfway out of the bag on this one.
$20k and child porn charges appear to be a case of the police inappropriately reacting the widespread coverage. He’s a kid that needs a to be given a bit of a whack with the clue stick, not be screwed over for life.
[$20k and child porn charges appear to be a case of the police inappropriately reacting the widespread coverage. He’s a kid that needs a to be given a bit of a whack with the clue stick, not be screwed over for life.]
Yep, and being put on the sex offenders register for basically taking nudie pics of his mates. That’s a one way ticket to long term unemployment.
#25, God. Oh boy, do I have news for you!
Victoria does not “already” have Bruce Ruxton. He has been a Queenslander for several years.
The VIC cops are no doubt glad to be in distraction mode.
They made right pork chops of themselves at the Tennis, maceing pretty low level crowd enthusiasm, which affected the players as well.
In VIC, the number of coppers they wheel out to testify how “appropriate” the force used was is generally an excellent measure of the extremity of the cock-up.
I counted four this time. Thats a big-un.
I think part of it is summer boredom and a slow news cycle, part is nostalgia for days of wild parties and part is people loving to get angry over nothing much.
Jesus wept!
And they say that I don’t have a sense of humour.
Oh my God, God! - from your gravatar, it appears you are a white male lawyer. Can’t you look a little more, well, er, compelling
- that is - if you are going to reappear on the earth to give SATP his road to Damascus experience?and just WHAT road to Damascus experience would that be?
There’s a bit of Shane Paxton about this thing. I saw the ACA video over at Hoyden, and I have to say that his response to being treated like an idiot by some clueless hack keen to display her moral worth was to respond in kind. Good on him.
If the ‘child porn’ is nothing more than drunken adolescents photographing each other, it’s unlikely to go anywhere. More serious stuff than that gets dropped all the time.
Possibly the arrest was a bit of a stunt. Given the time delay between the party and the arrest, there doesn’t seem to have been much immediacy to it.
I’ve got no sympathy for the stupid little prick.
When I was 16 I had left school with a full time job and was giving almost all my money to my parents to support the family.
Sure I got into trouble with the cops but I fought or talked my own way out (or in) to it.
Pity they still didn’t take dickheads like him down to the station and make him bend down with hsi head down under the desk then kick him in the arse. Or hand him the phone book and belt him in the guts.
Give me a good look at the parents - the fruit never falls far from the tree - I’ll bet they are self centred and self justifying.
FXH’s comment = hammer + nail, *square hit*
I must confess I found the whole episode pretty hilarious.
Steve at pub - thanks
Something for you:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Et4-AmYhzuc&feature=related
I’m with skeptic on this one. ACA sneering and mocking a kid, who turns it around and mocks it straight back.
All this pathetic jumped up two bit cheap jack wowser judgement. What about the other five hundred kids who happen to be the people who caused and fought the affray? And whose kids were they? Who is fighting righteously to bring them into the light?
Next stop - which school doe he go to? If it was a government school, I reckon we’d know by now.
Tiley - as you might guess I have a hundred different takes on this. On this blog my inner RWDB emerges.
What I find appalling about the child porn charges is that the ‘Kings of Werribee’ didn’t get charged with anything like that, even though their DVD distribution of a planned and filmed sexual assault fits the bill.
This is a stupid stunt by third rate coppers.
That’s right, I think, Paul. He wasn’t out there saying “I’m sorry, guv’nor”. And because they’ve contributed to the media maelstrom themselves, the coppers have to try to hang him on some trumped up crud.
I saw the tennis thing on SBS just before - pretty outrageous stuff.
Victoria badly needs its own version of a Fitzgerald Inquiry, it seems to me. Take them down a notch or two.
Victoria badly needs its own version of a Fitzgerald Inquiry, it seems to me. Take them down a notch or two.
There have been persistent problems with the police in Vic for many years, and inquiries and Ombudsman’s investigations don’t seem to have stamped them out. You could run a whole other thread on the multitude of shameful stories out there that relate to Vic police.
http://coreydelaney.net/2008/01/16/free-corey/
Leave messages of support there.
I really thought Christine Nixon was better than this.
[What I find appalling about the child porn charges is that the ‘Kings of Werribee’ didn’t get charged with anything like that, even though their DVD distribution of a planned and filmed sexual assault fits the bill.]
There was the case a few years back where students of an exclusive private girls school, produced a poronographic DVD involving oral S*x and were selling it to the boys of an all boys school.
The Story made the front page of The West, but alas, the Schools involved closed ranks and no charges were ever laid.
You said it, Mark - Ive smelt this all before.
The coppers here are bone lazy, you never see them on patrol, every time a court goes near them another senior official is up on corruption charges, or dobbing someone ex-mate, there’s strange witness disappearances linked to police info, the Police union reckon it runs the department, they act like any criticism is some wild invitation to anarchism yada yada.
They want a good full powers Royal Commission up em, alright.
The special VIC angle is the preemptory shootings (and now maceings. Amazingly, it never occurs to them to shoot some mad bloke in the leg.
[The Story made the front page of The West, but alas, the Schools involved closed ranks and no charges were ever laid.]
And strangely there is no reference to it on the net either.
Dose Ms Keeler, or other Perthites remember the details ?
Not to mention the Four Corners show on that Mullett character and the police union. Isn’t he charged with something now?
It’s all very reminiscent of Joh era Qld - coppers busting kids on rubbish charges, going nuts with excessive force, acting like they own the show, a police union which wants to be a political player, rumours and whiffs of corruption only occasionally surfacing and all sorts of deliberately ineffectual “complaints commissions” and so on.
The only difference appears to be that under Joh, the government loved all this and was in it up to its armpits, whereas in Vic what I assume we have is a cowed and pliant Labor administration going down the low road of “getting tough” by agreeing to and defending every police request or behaviour with no discrimination whatever.
There really is lots of value - for good honest coppers too - in an inquiry which doesn’t just clean out the rot but also has the demonstration effect of reminding the force that they’re there to serve civil society and are not above the law.
We crossed comments, Lefty E!
Mark - Victoria may well need a Fitzgerald Inquiry but not into incidents such as ejecting obnoxious violent yobs from the tennis or putting the frighteners on a dickhead who invited a couple of hundred other dickheads to bother the neighbours and couldn’t say “er um er um sorry ” even after a day or two to seek advice and think about it.
Lefty E,
Speaking of the Victorian Police Association - Four Corners did a story on their antics last year.
http://www.abc.net.au/4corners/content/2006/s1843824.htm
The Labor Govt is probably more sophisticated that Joh when it somes to PR and spin. They’ve avoided a lot of the ’scandal’ faced by QLD and NSW Govts, and they haven’t necessarily been that much better.
Any inquiry into Vic police would need to be a Royal Commission.
I had to laugh at this article I found a few days ago - it’s Paul Mullett in 2004, swearing black and blue that a Royal Commission is unneccessary:
http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2004/04/18/1082226633481.html?from=storyrhs
Speaking of Royal Commissions, WA has had the Kennedy Roiyal Commission looking into corrupt activities under the watch of former Victorian Assistant Commisioner Bob Falconer.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_commission_into_whether_there_has_been_corrupt_or_criminal_conduct_by_any_Western_Australian_Police_Officer
Second link in the document goes to the transcripts
Indeed Mark, but you put it better.
Just sayin’ folks, with the exception that the Commissioner and (probably) Government themselves aren’t nakedly corrupt, the whole scene and culture reminds me of Brisbane circa ‘86.
Not cool.
Steve At The Pub [9]:
You put that so delightfully.
[and 32]:
The correct term is “IN Queensland” not “Queenslander”; there’s a world of difference. Now, where’s that Return-To-sender button? Found it. Destination? Japanese whaling ship in Southern Ocean. Press “Enter” key to send. Beauty! It worked. “Ah, konnichi-wa Brucey-san”.
She/He who calls herself/himself “God” [35]:
Do you like mere mortals’ sense of humour too? [In keeping with recent Australian Immigration administrative practice, the aforementioned ship bearing the Hinomaru flag has been excised from Japan and is, for the purpose of dealing temporarily with bothersome scallywags teleported out of Queensland, considered part of the State Of Victoria ].
Thats right Frank- one of the VIC deputy commissioners is suspended (on full pay) as we speak.
Bit our current Police Commissioner has PhD and is a wannabe Rock Singer to boot.
Video of the WA Commissh on the axe in the imbedded video on this page.
http://www.police.wa.gov.au/ABOUTUS/News/PoliceOpenDayConcert/tabid/1355/Default.aspx
Actually, I stand corrected, The Commissioner at the Time of the Royal Commissioner was Barry Matthews, from New Zealand.
Falconer din’t come on board until 2004, 2 years into the Royal Commission.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Australia_Police#Controversy
But Mr Falconer wasn’t a werll liked boss, introducing refoms modelledv on the current Victorian Police Structure, I believe Bob was the Commish during the Andrew Mallard sga,as well as the Claremont Serial Killings another two black stains in WA Police History.
To be perfectly honest, Corey is a downright spoilt little brat.
I’m an 18 year old who loves a night on the town. But I have an incredible level of respect for my parents. I appreciate & understand how hard they’ve worked to give me the house & education I have today.
Corey is lapping up the attention, and he’s too cowardly to go home & face the real music. But yelling at this kid will be like water off a ducks back - pointless. By offering him gigs & money to be interviewed, that’s not discipling him, it’s giving him his 15 minutes of fame. But eventually he will have to go home & confront his parents. At the VERY least, they deserve an apology & an explanation.
Corey’s 16 years old now. He’s allowed to leave school. He’s allowed to move out. He’s at the age to face responsibility for his actions. He knew perfectly well what situation he was putting himself, and his home in, on Saturday night by posting that MySpace Bulletin. Charge the little bastard & send a clear message to any other 16 year olds who may think they may be able to get away with it too.
I just feel sorry for the poor parents. But maybe he is too young to be left alone. & with an immaturity level of this extreme, how could you ever trust him??
Corey, bottom line. You’re a dickhead. Show the tinest bit of decency & go home & give your parents the respect they deserve.
If Jessica is 18, I’m 90.
Anyone under 30 who’s read this story would immediately recognise that Corey is a hero unparalleled in human history.
“I have to say that his response to being treated like an idiot by some clueless hack keen to display her moral worth was to respond in kind.”
Yes, it’s made him a cult hero among his Myspace peers.
It’s a massive and highly entertaining beatup. I do feel for the neighbours facing broken car windows and despoiled lawns. On the other hand how do you put a price on your involvement in a dinner party topic that went global?
Anyway, after an 30 minute chat with Max Markson, Corey should be able to sling his parents a serious five figure cheque to placate everyone who feels out of pocket. Then onto him as a surprise guest on the next series of Big Brother - along with 500 of his closest friends.
[ Then onto him as a surprise guest on the next series of Big Brother - along with 500 of his closest friends.]
Gives a whole new meaning of thr “Big Brother Intruder”
Oh and before mobiles, SMS and the Intertubes, there was CB radio, which was used to advertise parties etc BTW, is Neil Mitchell back from holidays yet - sounds like a talor-made story for him - his colleague in Perth Howard Sattler would KILL for a story like this
Everyone:
Let’s see if I’ve got this right.
Young bloke wants to have a good time. Is naive/stupid in how he goes about it. Upsets neighbours then police then friends and then parents; damage, mischief and inconvenience happen [reinforcing impression of naivity/stupidity]. Folly of it all publicized in news media as a warning to other young people about how not to organize a party. Maybe await his return a few years from now as an eminent scientist or accomplished musician or somesuch. End of story.
Oh no it’s not!
Here we can distract the whole country from worrying about the SubPrime Depression and whether they will have a job, a house and enough to eat by the end of this financial year. They can fiddle with all the minutae of this incident and its aftermath instead of wondering if/when/how Kev08 will morph into Howard II. Since Osama bin-Ladel has temporarily absented himself from his role as the Enemy We Can All Hate, this young bloke will do as a fill-in. Hell, let’s not shilly-shally; let’s put him straight on the payroll of a major media corporation; he’s worth his weight in gold [even at nearly USD 900/troy ounce].
Thank goodness I have books to read and interesting non-”news” websites to visit.
the whole shebang is bloody silly
the kid is a twerp, the parents are hopeless, the police are totally crap and commercial FM radio is..well… commercial FM Radio…
sigh.
the again there is that Kevid Rudd and his larger sideburns. Damn Hippie.
“the kid is a twerp, the parents are hopeless, the police are totally crap and commercial FM radio is..well… commercial FM Radio…”
Yes, that sure sounds like the early 21st century.
That Damascus Road thing was one of my bigger mistakes. I command that the universe forgets it.
What else would you expect God to look like?
I think there is somewhat of a over-reaction of criticism of all involved here, and no real suggestions, which is sad in itself, to assist all those involved to insure Corey measures up to responsibility in the future,as much as if he thinks he is a complete man now ,implies facing the fact of his actions and friends costing many people ,and government unwanted costs. His attitude has been distinctly not accepting, people who have known him for years as neighbours just accepting the activities of the Party, which didnt have his parent approval. And do all the posters here, volunteer as individuals to have bottles thrown at them!Good! You can all stand in for Police attending similar events, and wear a special uniform, that indicates where you want the bottles to land on yourself. This kid has got leadership qualities, its self evident. And the Police may know this, but what do you do with a kid like this!? He should himself round up his friends, apologise in person to all the neighbours Police etc.,and commit themselves as young adults in the numbers of the party to tackle some community work, that may pay some of the costs, without Police or Court direction. In fact,in any pursuing court appearance the judg could ask him, what does he think needs to be done out of a sense of fairness, rather than penalty. And if he chooses not to suggest a way, then adult penalties have to be applied.
Does this point to the fact that outer Melbourne “suburbia” is just rows of houses with little for the local teenagers to do in their spare time?
Nearly 500 local young people are reported to have attended the event; that means a large number of teenagers just hadn’t anything better to do last Saturday night?
Maybe an unsupervised party with unlimited liquor and (reported) group sex was a real “buzz” for the kids attending but a house has been “trashed”, neighbourhood disrupted and, possibly, a “wave” of teenage pregnancies in a few months’ time?
Corey may done us all a favour by drawing attention to the general problems of outer “suburbia”.
Where does he go when no one can find him? Surely he would be recogniseable from his hair and distinctive yellow sunglasses. I wonder what his career aspirations were before the party? Maybe now he is headed for a successful career in event management?
“Maybe now he is headed for a successful career in event management?”
Quite possibly. Or head of PR for a funky local hedge fund.
I “hafta” to say though that you “Tiger99″ are “certainly” on the “fast track” to a “career” in “quote mark” distribution.
“I wonder what his career aspirations were before the party? Maybe now he is headed for a successful career in event management?”
The internet and savy users is turning this into an event .
He is geeting friendly media exposure in the US now -http://www.break.com/index/australian-party-kid-on-opie-and-anthony.html
He’s not stupid. His key identifiers, the glasses and fur hood give him an instantly recogniseable visual profile that’s gone global. Yet the moment he takes ‘em off you wouldn’t know how to recognise him if he didn’t want to be recognised.
Who ever said getting up early was good for you?
’savvy ‘ and ‘getting ‘ that should be.
“Who ever said getting up early was good for you?”
I know who said that. And I have his name and address which I’m willing to share with you for a reasonable fee. But bags the first bucket of ice cold water in his face though as he snoozes past sunrise.
Speaking of which, look at the bloody time now. Time to hit the sack.
“Free Corey Delaney!
Where do I queue?
@53 & @64 Frank
It was MLC
And Falconer was commissioner from 1994.
Is this why the Thais send their adolescent boys away to Buddhist monasteries for a few years?
I think child porn charges are substantial enough charges
Are they though?
“Producing” not “distributing” - what it no doubt means is that he took photos or videos of kids at the party in a state of undress.
Nice way by the cops to reinforce the notion that COREY IS TEH EVIL though…
Mark,
I can’t believe you made a comparison between Hicks and this Casey knob.
One is an evil little bastard who went off to train with terrorists in the hope of fullfilling some bloodlust fantasy and get to kill people.
The other is a typical angst ridden 16 year old who has a lot of growing up to do.
So, something else for us to be collectively appalled about. I guess our media moguls have determined that appalled people buy more fish and chip wrap and watch more KFC ads.
Swap Party Boy for the Sea Shepherd Two.
Then the Japanese can do some “scientific whaling” on him….
Gee, young Corey must have suddenly reverted to immature behaviour as soon as his parents left him home alone and went on their hols.
How could his parents possibly have guessed that young Corey might take advantage of their absence, trash their house and the neighbourhood and take naughty pictures of minors doing what comes natural to them after half a bottle of Stolli?
They only live with him.
How could the MSM guess that Corey’s antics would be A1 human interest/filler material world-wide at the fag end of the silly season?
Dumb luck!
But of course Corey has carved out a career for himself as an A-list event organiser. So, all’s well that ends well.
Not.
The trick to being in denial is to make sure that you stay in denial.
The pornographic material is reported as being semi naked shots of kids playing Twister.
Oh the horror.
Semi naked - honestly , the wowserism is nauseating.
This is becoming farcical - the police are compounding their problems with this incident by overreacting in such a heavy handed way.
Sales of Twister - special Corey version are mooted.Sunnies not included.
I suspect that the child porn charges are being laid to allow an attempt at a criminal conviction. If successful the police should then be able to push the ‘proceeds of crime’ angle for all the media paychecks etc.
Looking back, at 16 I was too shit scared of my idiot mates damaging property and breaking household items (and the consequent parental retribution) to ever invite more than 50 people to a ‘my-parents-are-away’ party.
They’re not “problems”. As a real estate agent might say, they’re “features”.
FXH at #40: they still do the phone book and station-stairs routine, but only if it’s a party thrown by housing commission kids.
Steve @ 49,
Thanks for the link. I put my money where my mouth is and sent the kid a message of support. I hope Corey does make a career as an event organiser. My worry is the cops will be so heavy handed they’ll wreck his whole life bacause of an act of extreme teenage stupidity which severely embarrased them. Helicopters, dogs, hordes of police. Okay, they were very noisy, very unruly kids who scared the shit out of the neighbours, who played Twister semi-nude. They should all get together and pay for the damage. Especially the ones who committed the vandalism.
No matter what the kid has done this scapegoating caper is manifestly unfair.
Let this be a lesson to you Corey, and one I learned early: if its gonna be a big one, always invite the neighbours.
