    Why, that coincides wonderfully with my usual wednesday jaunt, a mere short stroll down the hill to The Corkman Irish Pub.

    Will be there with bike lights on.

    Carl!

    Love to be there but am thousands of miles away.

  3. 3 HelenNo Gravatar

    Yeah and FOR ONCE I’m not!

    (Nelson laugh) hah hah!

    Will be there with bike bells on.

    Onya Darlene! Huge props to you for taking the initiative to organise this! I wish I wasn’t so poor at the moment - I’d love to fly down for it!

    aah PAs. I will be enroute from Beijing having checked out media (oh alright then I will have checked out internet access) and thence to Kaohsiung where I will check out how Ma Ying-Jeou is going.

    Sounds like a well meaning effort Darlene but I won’t be there.

    Because I have several firm life rules worked out through bitter experience. They include:

    Never mix grape and grain-based spirits;
    Never date an actress who’s at least ten years younger than you;
    Never go for a piss off the windward side of a boat;
    Never volunteer for anything formally called a “steering committee” or “working party”;
    Always watch a Warner Brothers cartoon when you have the chance;
    Never deliberatively try for a lob inside the service line;
    You cannot drink too much decent champagne; and
    Never attend anything called a forum. Unless you’re being paid a solid four figure fee.

    But since I suspect you’re determined to make of a good fist of this Forum, I have one suggestion that I think is vital - hire a professional moderator/rapporteur. Not so much for their skills but more to have a paid scapegoat when things go wrong…or dull.

    FX Holden would have made this point with far more brutal frankness. Actually why don’t you hire him as moderator? He’d bring the same inimitable touch to this as Brando as The Regulator in “The Missouri Breaks”.

    “Why do you have so many guns?”
    “Because I’m a sportsman.”

    Being rather protective of Kaohsiung, I object to FXH setting foot there.

    That soil is not to be fouled. Remain in Peking, the province of the evil communists & the evil mousey tongue.

    Which is nothing to do with Melbourne anyway.

    Which in turn is nothing to do with Australia anyway. Some of my funniest moments have been in Melbourne, when locals there talk like as if they have any connection whatsoever to Australia…

    In all my life Melbourne has probably been mentioned on the news twice. Putting it way behind New York, London, Johannesburg, New Dehli etc.

    If you’re an avid PS3 gamer, then you know the importance of saving your progress for future game play.
    Pls, help me!

    For the people that are coming, see you there. : )

    With a happy smiley face.

    By the way, people that coming buy you’re booze in the bar downstairs ; ).

    By the way, I’m pencilling myself in at this stage.

    Really not sure what SATPs point is. Only a quarter of Australia’s population and economy, sure, wouldn’t ever be missed.

    What happens at an LP forum? Discussion? Set pieces? powerpoint presentations?

  13. 13 DarleneNo Gravatar

    What happens at an LP forum?

    Well, we’ll have some expert speakers from the media and the academy (not the Fame one) talking about media/Rudd and other related topics. Then, of course, questions and comments (statements) from the floor. If you’re lucky, I might sing my rendition of Britney’s lastest hit. Just a nice informal chat, really.

  14. 14 HelenNo Gravatar

    Any other LPers coming? Kim, Anna, Paul (Norton), Sean…?

  15. 15 DarleneNo Gravatar

    Well, it’s a Melbourne gig, Helen, and unfortunately the budget (even with the new ads) doesn’t extend to flying in the troops from all over the country.

    Darlene and All:

    Sorry I can’t make it but will be thinking of the lot of you.

    SATP - You familiar with Kaohsiung?

    The first of the new underground opened last month - very spiffy I’m told - I can’t wait to ride it. Many new bike paths opened too.
