Or so says Markos at Daily Kos, where the text of a speech that purports to be Obama’s has just been published.

I don’t think “leaked” is the right word. They were talking about it on CNN, my impression was the text was released to the media by the Obama camp the way most major speeches are.
Could be a bit of hyperbole from Markos, then, Amanda? Wouldn’t be the first time.
Its the speech, I watched it online, good as usual with lots of job offers for Hillary, just not VP, which after her dump non concession I hopes she does not get. I stopped reading the Kossaks a long time ago.
No VP possie for Hills I’m afraid. You never know-sometimes the thought is mother to the deed, if you know what I mean. No, health care guru maybe, or perhaps head of Housing and Human Services of whatever it is called in the US. Or perhaps a new Dept altogether, looking after people who are poor and who have been left behind on just about every social indicatior imaginable. This would indicate ‘respect’ fopr the people who supported her candidacy (a large part of the Democrat base) that simply must be reorgnaised and mobilised in the next decade.
Great result. I’m very pleased for all the people who worked so hard. ‘Clintonism’ is dead. The 90’s are dead. Long live the decade that will make the 60’s (which is also now officially dead thank heavens) look like the 50’s.
Maybe Markos is pissed coz his rival HuffPo is very close to the Obama camp - they had the Obama victory speech (”to be delivered tonight”) posted hours before he gave it. I read it about 10 am our time - worth a look.
Atrios has some good observations about how the Iraq War ultimately cost Hillary (but nobody in the media wants to say that) and about how this really IS a big moment of change in US politics (even if the long fight with Clinton has obscured that).
Also, I noticed a Reuters or AP report earlier today which explicitly said that Clinton is only staying in the race as a way to pressure Obama for the VP spot. Is that “courageous” reporting of the truth? Or “outrageous” reporting of opinion as fact? You decide.
Looking back, I think the turning point for the Obama camp came way back on January 7th, when he won the coveted Gandhi Endorsement as “The Black Rudd”:
Actually - I think Obama is probably a bigger risk for the US than Rudd has proved to be for Australia. Electing Rudd wasn’t much of a dice roll - I’ve usually been a Coalition voter but even I voted for Rudd last time. He reminds me of a younger more energetic Howard. He’s successfully seen off the worst of the left-wing influence in his party through some nice acts of symbolism (Kyoto, sorry day) and now he’s getting down to the task of running a nice conservative government.
Obama on the other hand…. maybe he goes the same way as Rudd…. but maybe not. It will be interesting to see whether he can beat McCain. Hilary stood a good chance - but I’m not sure that Obama will be as electable. I suspect most Obama supporters would have voted for Hilary against McCain, but will all the HIlary supporters come out to vote for Obama?
I think Hillary has conceded at her blog:

She is definately talking about the race in the past tense.

Yeah, see new post. Something seems to have gone weird for a bit, but now appears not to be weird.

Actually AR, given Hillary’s penchant for grandiose delusions she may well be thanking everyone for winning the nomination!
This is what Hillary Clinton’s New York speech did not sound like:
Obama says “Tonight, I can stand before you and say that I will be the Democratic nominee for president of the United States”
Isn’t there supposed to be a convention that chooses/confirms who the Party’s nominee is? I think I would be one of the voters who would have turned out for Hillary, but would stay home for Obama. In which policy areas has Obama articulated better proposals than Hillary? It seems to me that Obama had, from the start, the overwhelming support of the big news corporations - which is enough to make you think twice.
Sorry, this is what Hillary Clinton’s New York speech did not sound like:
