Meant to ask .... what's in Paris? Or is that just a start-point?

I spent the whole weekend (at least the daylight bits of it) planting native seedlings on my 20 acre paddock - 400 of the little bastards. Slept in my shed Friday and Satruday nights, as it's a 90 minute drive from home. Everything hurts today, but it was a pretty satisfying weekend.

Well I'm impressed David.

I had a nicely mixed day. 4 hours of unleavened tedium at a careers expo trying to convince kids to show an interest in audio, or indeed to show anything at all other than embarassment at their parents.

"He's got no idea what he wants to do"

"Don't you have any questions for the man Bradley? Aren't you supposed to be into this kind of thing?"

Gah! Exasperating!

Then Sunday mark II - my newest band's first gig evah! I felt like a little teenager again, playing slightly psychey guitar rock (on the drums), flying by the seat of my pants a bit, stuffing up transitions and endings a little, fumbling the beat every time I had to sing backups. All in all, a success though.

All Hail your new Nerd King.

I watched the BBC "Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy".

On Laserdisc.

On a player I had to work on before doing it.

From laserdiscs I bought on Ebay.

And I liked it, although my wife was looking at me in the same way you do the chip crumbs between the cushions of the sofa. I should be ashamed I suppose, but I liked it.

Saturday. Taking notes from Fred Anderson's Crucible of War. A little time on the computer. Reading Eric Roberts, The Highland Clearances. Not that relevant to what I'm writing but its enjoyable. Finished note-taking from Crucible of War (which is mostly about the Seven Years War (American-Indian War) and its aftermath. Probably the best book on the Seven Years War from an American perspective (Though, mind you, I haven't yet looked at Gipson's multi-volume out of print work on the First British Empire, and its a must, some time soon. Hopefully Dixon library at UNE has it. Haven't checked.)
Saturday night, watched Wild At Heart. I'm a sucker for wild animal stories. Into Big Cat Diary too. One of the most disturbing things about global warming is the likelihood of an increased extinction rate of flora and fauna. Watched The Bill.
Sunday, quiet day. My next door neighbour (in the flats) is leaving for Nimbin in a month. That might mean total peace and quiet for a while.Spent a little time on LP, bur mostly taking notes from Gary Nash's The Unknown American Revolution. Sunday night TV. Dr. Who next week. Whee! That China doco was pretty bad, like it was made by the Chinese Tourist Board, or something.(The poor taste we show because its an Olympic Year. I dread the looming 6 weeks of bullsh*t.)Loved Mansfield Park. Of the whole series, I think Persuasion was my favourite. Watched A Very Long Engagement on SBS, switching over late. Had already seen it on DVD, but think its a wonderfully romantic movie whith good characterisation. To bed.

Mark:

Hang in there. Tiger Balm and the like are sovereign remedy for keyboard overwork ;-)

Everyone;
Went to Rockhamptopn's Islamic Centre for their Open Day yesterday. The old Hibernian Hall has been recycled as the mosque. Guest-of-honour was the Gold Coast's Imam Imran, a devout gentleman who was kept busy answering questions about his religion [South Africa's loss is Australia's gain]. It was a pleasant day.

I walked from Brownhill Creek Conservation Park to National Park Belair & back.

About 4.5 hours, pretty much all up and down. A few tricky bits on steep, slippery clay paths.

Got my name taken by a little Hitler of a park ranger, my terrier bitch was, gasp! off lead!

how do you post photos?

Ah yes - that one.

I'll have to think about it, but you may be the sole survivor from my 19th party. The other likely candidate has 3 kids and may not get let out!

With bells on!

I still have fond memories of your parties - like the one at your dad's in West End. You'll know which one!

Sorry I didn't respond to the email invite - pressure of business and all that.
