Well it’s July so it must be time again to condemn. Here’s a twenty second open condemnation thread. What’s getting up your goat this month so far? Which evil political, cultural, social, musical, religious and other phenomena need condemnation? (Or loud denunciation?)
You can condemn anything you like except short films from Auckland about monsters.

Dudes who can’t tell the difference between Gangsta Rap and the World. Seriously. Saturday night I had three thug-wannabe incidents. These lads need an estrogen injection or a cup of camomile or something.
I’m sitting on the top of my River Murray cliff overlooking a dry lagoon, watching the paddle steamer tourist river boats struggling to turn around at a point kms from where they normally go but can’t currently cos the river is too shallow, having a think about the fact that a few kms from me you can walk across the Murray and if you have knee high gumboots on you won’t get wet and contemplating this website below that somebody not mindful of my blood pressure sent me which explains to me that what I am seeing is all in my imagination.
”
A Myth Buster
Australia’s mighty River Murray is not dry.
It’s open for boating business. As usual.”

I condemn Raphael Nadal for winning Wimbledon, Spain had already won Euro 2008 and it’s was time to give someone else a go in the global sporting stakes.
And when time comes I’ll condemn Spain’s Alejandro Valverde if he beats the little Aussie battler Cadel Evans in this years Tour de France.
Why is Spain so selfish?
I don’t — I just condemn myself for admitting defeat and going to bed halfway through the third set.
I condemn the editor of the Art Magazine that published the painting/photograph of the 8 year old girl, not because I object to nude art of children,(as opposed to child pornography, which I’ve never seen and don’t want to see) but because it was surely wiser to let sleeping dogs lie. Henson, quite properly, had no charges to answer, but now we’re going to see another HJ campaign to have art photography of children banned, and a PM willing to do it. It was an act of extreme stupidity on the part of the editor after the whole thing had blown over.
I condemn all global warming deniers.
I condemn the euphemistic term climate change. Its global warming.
btw, do we have another Peter Jackson in the making in Auckland? I condemn people who don’t see the potential in crappy NZ horror movies.
I actually agree with you Paul (that it was a stupid thing to do and begging for trouble) BUT it would hardly be possible for Art Monthly to turn its head and pretend the furore didn’t happen. The pics that we’re seeing pixelated on the news (not the cover) were taken in 2001, and were subject to a much smaller scale controversy last year, being pulled from a touring exhibition when it reached Gosford in April 2007. The lead article in the latest issue is about Henson, and similar such cases in the last few years. It would be hypocritical if the editors, who argue that there’s nowt wrong with the images, had the article without including the ‘offending’ photographs. On the other hand, the cover? Geez. Hand Hetty a loaded gun…
I condemn the voters for Big Brother for evicting Bianca and making a dull show even less worthy of comment.
I condemn Channel Ten for screening Dexter and thus making it seem less transgressive than it did on cable.
I condemn myself for not making any progress on my thesis in the last two weeks.
I condemn the ABC for showing a cut down, 10min DR Who Confidential on Sunday night.
And I condemn Channel Seven for scheduling that Choir show on at the same time as Dr Who.
And I condemn myself for not doing anything about replacing the stuff in my lost wallet over the last couple of weeks and just now realising the implications of travelling interstate for a week with no credit card, photo ID, ATM card etc…
d
I condemn the ABC for showing the new season of Dr Who about six months behind the rest of the universe. I mean, it’s just wrapped up in the US. The US!! WTF kind of affection do they have for the good Doctor that they should find out what happens with Martha and Rose and the Sontarans and that bloody annoying Tate person before the good people down here in the lees of the Empire.
Honestly, it’s enough to drive a man to torrents.
I condemn Rudd, again, for retardedly offering his ignorant views about pictures he’s clearly never suspected the existence of.
Polixeni Papapetrou’s photographs actively assert the innocence of the children in them. I saw the Dreamchild show that this picture is from, several years ag. It’s Alice in Wonderland pictures. Gorgeous, dreamy stuff, solemn and freaky and joyfully weird. There were about a hundred little kids in the gallery screaming with delight at them. (It would have been a Saturday.) Polixeni’s pictures hang in upmarket childcare centres and pediatrician’s offices. They are beautiful and amazing and our PM is like Les Patterson without the balls.
I condemn walking to work in the rain.
I condemn stupid Sydney drivers many of whom obviously think that it’s not cool to indicate when changing lanes in heavy traffic.
I condemn inconsiderate people who manage to make a packet of chips last the entire length of a film, thus making loud rustling noises at the most inappropriate times in the movie. It’s surprising how loud a chip packet can be in an otherwise quiet theatre. Not that the film, Happy-Go Lucky was that good anyway.
I condemn Bob Brown for his weasel words portrayal of Betancourt’s rescue operation
http://www.bobbrown.org.au/600_media_sub.php?deptItemID=2615
He makes it sound like she was ‘released’ rather than rescued, and that Chavez helped to negotiate the release. Is he really so small minded that he can’t acknowledge a brilliant military/intelligence operation?
I condemn batteries and battery chargers and the short days that require flashing lights on the front of your bike so drivers awake from their stupor and don’t run into you.
I condemn Microsoft Excel because it turns everyone into data creator, despite their ministrations resulting in unreadable and unusable globs of data that require massive efforts of fudging to fix them, and overly complex programs to pull them apart. Notepad it if you don’t understand excel you morons.
I condemn the Air Force for not carrying out a surgical sweep and clear of the entire area whilst they still had a chance. Think about the boost to the country’s mean IQ.
I condemn Guise for failing to subvert corporate “marketing strategy” by not downloading each episode of Dr Who the same day they debuted in the UK (I watched the last episode last week).
Seriously, Guise, try isohunt.com
I condemn the editor of the Art Magazine that published the painting/photograph of the 8 year old girl
I think it was a strategic salvo. The girl is now older. And she’s hit back at Kevvie herself:
She’s 11. And she’s saying: A. 11 year olds can think have opinions and understand certain issues and B. Who is being revolting here?
.
I’m not sure whether Rudd’s being sincere, opportunist or both but it doesn’t break the law and it’s none of his business.
.
And I also condemn the Canadians. Bastards.
I’ve bought the said issue of ArtMonthly so I can read it before posting/commenting. And I condemn all those who condemn without reading/evaluating for themselves.
Watch this space.
I bought the issue this morning, well before posting. Much of my post is directly informed by my reading it.
What’s with Doctor Who Confidential ‘Cut Down’? How long should it be?
I condemn our entire political process for trivialising and politicising the greenhouse threat to our world, and I condemn every economist who goes along with the scam using their half baked view of reality to rationalise the political position.
I applaud every scientist, individual, activist, and off centre politician who has been demeaned and denegrated for their efforts in alerting us all to the risk to our very existence.
For those who’ve been discussing the Art Monthly “furore”, you can now do so on the thread attached to this post:
http://larvatusprodeo.net/2008/07/07/artmonthly-furore/
I condemn this comment for not containing a condemn (though the post is about condemns, among other things).
“I condemn this comment for not containing a condemn”
Wait.. what?
Ha!
I stand doubly condemned! Or alternatively, I condemn you for not grasping my superb grasp of irony!
I condemn Cadel Evans for bringing heaps more media interest to road cycling than he ever did when he was a champion mountain biker.
…I am a mountain biker.
I condemn anyone who hasn’t seen the video of the lass who intends to spread her seed thruout the country. She’s amazing…& brilliant:
http://pavlovblog.blogspot.com/
Sign her up for a film. ASAP.
Adrien…what have the Canadians done now? Don’t tell me their using seals for ice hockey slap shot practise?
“their” should be “they’re”
I condemn the boring Australian Story ep on William McInnes for boringly recycling the last boring Australian Story ep on William McInnes.
I know this condemn won’t be popular.
So I condemn Andrew Denton and all his works for balance.
I condemn July for being the middle of year and the end of financial year and being here already.
I condemn myself for too much procrastination and not enough thesis.
Icondemnn the ABC’s Chris Uehlman for sucking up to Albrechtsen. If he’s Opus Dei, it should be to Miranda Devine, not the pro-Israel lobby that constitutes the ABC board.
I condemn Rudd for selling out for a pat on the head from Murdoch. I further condemn him for not knowing the difference beteen child sexualisation and child commodification.
Most of all, I condemn Pavlovs Cat for watching half of the tennis before realising what she was doing, and even morepassionatel the ABC for running Dr Who against an SBS doco about the Jewish, Christian and Islamic Foundational medieval interface of Spanish Al Andalus on Sunday night.
I back up Kim’s last condemn, and double condemn Australian Story in general, as well as this especially pointless episode in particular.
I condemn GW @ #23 for being a MTN biker, Cadel Evans has seen the light and is riding a real bike now.
When we reach Condemn Thread XXIII, must it be devoted solely to that dreadful Pope John XXIII and his simply ghastly Vatican 2??
I condemn “The Cardinal” and Monsignor Iemma for dropping out of the limelight after the sterling work they did recently around ‘National Annoyance Day’.
It was so refreshing to see a couple of local lads taking up where “The Chaser” boys left off - helping to make another international event in Sydney a national laughing stock.
I accept Derrida Derider’s derision. Your point is well and justly made.
Isohunting we will go.
I condemn Le Tour. Three nights of 2am finishes after must-watch stages. It’s tiring just watching it. I condemn myself for considering a kip under the desk after lunch (stifles yawn).
I condemn all who do not understand these fundamental truths
Sorry, stuffed that right up. Stupid computer. Anyway…THE TRUTHS….
Red Cordial is the best hangover cure
Bolt,Albrechtson and Ackerman= The ultimate triumvate of the insipid
The Liberal/National parties regularly consult Ruperts ” YOU TOO CAN BECOME AN EFFECTIVE,POPULIST MORON”…forward by A Downer.
We must slow down and allow the earth to catch up.
Consider this society in terms of every person being honest in both deed and thought
I liked #34 better - much punchier.
I condemn our media centre signal finder thingy at home that can’t find SBS and so I can’t watch the Tour de France. Le sob.
I also condemn the use of “applying the blowtorch” to every other bloody thing in the meedja at the moment. Thanks to Dr Tarago for the latest, for Rudd to be “a human blowtorch”. Please, find an imagination! Somebody’s, anybody’s.
I condemn that Zoo Weekly rag for the pickies of that Roberta Williams woman. Ya can hardly call ‘em fun bags when they’re attached to that much danger, can ya!
Can I just get in a quick condemnation of “about” pages that have stale links on them?
Mark - you may want to check the photo credit links.
