Beautiful day in Brisbane, by the way.

The Pasifika Festival at the Powerhouse showcases cultural and aesthetic aspects of neighbouring countries, including those with a community resident in Brisbane. Today it was the turn of the local Indonesian community.

Gad think I,m first, Sunday means read Sundry Slimes, then housework, then Bunnings for a load of stuff then back when you find out you got the wrong stuff.
Watch RL on Fox,stopped watching Insiders after getting an awful urge to smash the TV and Bolt, or what ever right wing fool they drag out, then gardening ah its a fun life
The garden needs work. Much more work, things are starting to grow again.
I’ve updated the post with some photos taken today on a walk I took down to the Powerhouse during a break from draft #3 of the thesis. I’d have waited til they were uploaded, but I’ve been in the habit of posting this feature at 4pm, so I decided to make it a work in progress.
I get the undoubted joy of slugging my way across London from my new, beautiful Finsbury Park house to my old, shoddy studio to check the mail and see that the repairs I requested have been done (so I can get my bond back). What fun! What joy!
This morning while waiting to talk to an Australian friend I watched a bit of Olympics coverage (I’m in London). I was greeted by the solemn announcement “Our medal tally has passed the Australians!” This, it seems, is the real reason the British keep an eye on the table…
Ha! I’ve just discovered via SBS news that today is Indonesian Independence Day - hence the timing of the bit of the Pasifika Festival I wandered through this arvo!
In other news, I am investigating whether it is possible to multitask and edit a thesis while watching tv. I don’t know if that produces anything of any great quality though. We’ll find out after Doctor Who. If there are sentences reading “Doctor Donna Friends!” or similar, then I guess the experiment will have failed.
Day started in morning early, 8.30, dog obedience first for Royal Show demo then the Novice class lesson. Feeling suicidal I took the lead of at heeling, she heeled for a bit then took off, unfortunately found an exit and ran across road that is normally busy but thank fukk not then. 10 minutes later had her back on the lead, finished the lesson. Instructor said the running away act will go away with more training. Damn I really hope so!
Off to Farmers Market got a few things incl Belgian Choc & caramel tart and couple bottles wine. Also packet broadbean seed, will plant in morning.
Took off to Stirling where we started the walk to Bridgewater (through a conservation park, oops!) along Pioneer Womens Trail. Was good though path very very muddy. Came out by the Mill and the stream running well the mill wheel was actually turning, nice! On the way back heard a Kookaburra, very nice!
12Km walk, was pretty tired at the end of it but arthritic hip didn’t hurt too much. Drinking some cider now. A good day, little bit of rain but mostly weather was fine. Beautiful green everywhere, some wildflowers, birdsong etc. tunnel under Adelaide-Melbourne rail line also had very fastflowing creek in it, nice bit of thundering water noise.
That Private Poetry sign is lovely. Thank you.
It’s groovy hey!
Yesterday I went to an Egyptology conference at Macquarie Uni. It was a good day, until I got back to my car. I got slugged with an $81 parking fine. I had only paid $40 to go to the conference. The conference organizers told me that parking would be free, and no parking inspectors at the uni. I’m still depressed about it.
P C in answer to your comment on another thread re Dad the Aquarian Tiger, I’ve found male Aquarians to be way out there. Case in point is a late mate who changed his name from David Fish to Bardius Goldberg. A sculptor who used many very different methods and more recently outed as the creator of the massive etching in the outback landscape of the Kadachi Man. Although he lived in Alice Springs for many years and in Hahndorf. Bardius was born and raised on Fraser Island.
I’m a male Aquarian! An (Earth) Monkey not a Tiger though…

Watch out for the Tigers Mark, they have a tendency to eat Monkeys!
Cheers zorronsky!
Here’s my helpful Chinese horoscope for today, courtesy of an FB app:
Playing with my new iPhone. 15th anniversary this week, so his and hers iPhones are the presents this year. Very odd to post from though.
My Apex Club took a bus load of Sudanese refugees to see the snow. These families have all settled permanently in our community, so this was our way of helping to welcome them. It was the first time that any of the group had visited the snow-fields, and I feel quite privileged to have been able to have shared this experience.
“That Private Poetry sign is lovely.”
Indeed A good one.
Reminded me of my most favourite bumber sticker…
“I’m a poet and I voet”.
Myself and She Who Must be Obeyed
went for a long day walk near Katoomba - down Furber steps, across Mt Solitary, up the Kings Tableland, back to Wentworth Falls and a Rail Bus back to Katoomba, roughly 28km in 12 hrs…Beef Pie went down well after that…
Good training for an upcoming trip to NZ - I pottered about the house yesterday complaining about being a fat old fart, while she played soccer (and won).
Steve H, Brrrrrr! Remember to pack a distress beacon if you’re planning a trek up Mount Cook.
28Km! Makes my 12Km look sick
Chookie - yeah it was a bit nipply - frost on the tent yesterday morning! Thanks to the sheep fleece and millions of little polymers we stayed warm
(helps that I went to uni at UNE Armidale as well)
No intentions on Cook - day walks only (recce trip). There’s a good reason Kiwis are some of the best mountaineers in the world…NZ colleague did send me a link to a great website for ordering topo maps…
Jovial Monk - well 12km is more normal for us anyway, it’s just that when you see a spot height of 910m within about 2km of a height of 2009m then you start to think “hey, we’d better get our a%ses fit”
