Chookie - yeah it was a bit nipply - frost on the tent yesterday morning! Thanks to the sheep fleece and millions of little polymers we stayed warm :-) (helps that I went to uni at UNE Armidale as well)
No intentions on Cook - day walks only (recce trip). There's a good reason Kiwis are some of the best mountaineers in the world...NZ colleague did send me a link to a great website for ordering topo maps...
Jovial Monk - well 12km is more normal for us anyway, it's just that when you see a spot height of 910m within about 2km of a height of 2009m then you start to think "hey, we'd better get our a%ses fit" :-o

Myself and She Who Must be Obeyed ;-) went for a long day walk near Katoomba - down Furber steps, across Mt Solitary, up the Kings Tableland, back to Wentworth Falls and a Rail Bus back to Katoomba, roughly 28km in 12 hrs...Beef Pie went down well after that...
Good training for an upcoming trip to NZ - I pottered about the house yesterday complaining about being a fat old fart, while she played soccer (and won).

My Apex Club took a bus load of Sudanese refugees to see the snow. These families have all settled permanently in our community, so this was our way of helping to welcome them. It was the first time that any of the group had visited the snow-fields, and I feel quite privileged to have been able to have shared this experience.

Here's my helpful Chinese horoscope for today, courtesy of an FB app:

At work, it will be time to take a plunge and squarely face the difficulties. Don't be intransigent, otherwise you'll have problems. You'll have the possibility to begin an intense relation with a stranger or a person met in a recent trip. Your eliminatory system will be faulty: think to drink much plain water.
