Frist!
Trolled cafes, found (hey! it was just lying around) and downloaded a movie and a TV show from the intertubes, nothing much else. You?
BTW, today we have had a new definition coined on Twitter, pass it on.
To pull a Conroy: to attempt to cover ignorance of a topic (esp. after claiming expertise) with bluster and/or vindictiveness.
Actually that could be a Bolt too.
Egad I hope I,m 2nd,been a normal day in Perth, went a brought a fish tank, who said WA was not exciting.
Think it could also apply to Blair and Ackerman as well, along with selected columnists in The Australian
Doing my tax. Ugh.
Trying to become human again after missing my anti-convulsants and getting totally out of synch for the last few days. So I avoided writing commentary and posted some MP3s I’ve created. (Don’t bother looking if you aren’t a Bach fan).
Bitterly cold westerning winds, bringing sleet, hard rice grains of hails and meagre attempts at snow flakes. Interspersed with blazing blue sky & golden sun. Summer in a week?
Dog was total shit at obedience! Can be unbelievably good. . .and so bad it is embarrassing! Apparently only one terrier, a Jack Russel has got as far as a CDX title (there is CCD, CD and CDX (Companion Dog Excellent) so why am I trying???
Drove to Stirling Market, a nice bustling market of all sorts of things. Bought some sedums to plant in a patch between fruit trees. Had lunch at the Organic Market there (not the same as the Stirling Market) and wasn’t that impressed with it (the lunch.)
Read a bit re the one year anniversary of election of Rudd Labor govt. Amazing, not a single Minister ‘lost’ and ratings better than the election results! Go Kevy!
Jovial Monk: at the risk of breaking the “no politics” rule for these threads, I reckon the hard part for Kev and the Gang starts now.
I did the 1 in 20, the well-known climb up Mount Dandenong in Melbourne, ever-so-slightly too slow to earn bragging rights.
Union meeting in the morning. Mowed the lawn in the afternoon. Got part-way through putting the legs back on a 1972-vintage radiogram (AM radio – calibrated by state and callsign – and 4-speed turntable (16, 33.3, 45 and 78rpm)).
…oh, and started reading The Mystery of a Hansom Cab.
Stayed at home and did home maintenance type things. Made bread. Ran through Sunday School play. Think the hyperactive kid has had too many lollies this weekend (well, I think he’s hyperactive, but he could be just overindulged). Visited our friends’ new arrival. Sweet little boy. Our sons played with other kids, who had brought lightsabres. Watched show on ABC about Isle of Mull.
Played oneupmanship with her indoors. And won.
The conversation went like this:
(W = wife, T = Toddler, D = Dave)
W: Watch this! What does a cow say?
T: MOO!
W: (smiles).
D: That’s nothing. Watch this: KICK IT!
D+T: NER NER NER NEEEEER, NER NER NER NEEEEER
D: You wake up late for school and ya don’t wanna
T: GO!
D+T: NER NER NER NEEEEER, NER NER NER NEEEEEER
D: Ya ask ya mum
T: PEAS!
D: But she still sez
T: NO!
D+T: NER NER NER NEEEEER, NUH!
D: YOU GOTTA
D+T: FIGHT!
D: FO YO
D+T: RIGHT!
D: TO
D+T: PAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRTTTAAAAAAAYYYYYY!
W: You were the reason DOCS was invented Dave.
Parenting doesn’t get any better than that.

I am old enough to remember 78 speed records but what sort of records were ever played at 16 speed?
Very, verrrrry sloooow ones, Allan.
Saturday – mostly quiet – on Internet. Flying e-mails to bookseller in US, some insulting, gave myself a very high anxiety attack, ended sending craven apology.
Did some note-taking from John Shy’s A People Numerous and Armed. Dipped into Boswell’s London Journal, 1762-1763. One day I’ll finish it. Thought Mountains on the ABC was boring. Watched The Bill. Switched to Channel 9, watched Arnie in The Sixth Day. Was it a director’s cut, or had I just forgotten most of it? Crashed.
Sunday: Watched Insiders. Bolt is not good for my mental equilibrium. Commented on LP. Got nice e-mail from US bookseller, teklling me book was being sent airmail, priority post that day. Felt more of a goose than JWH wearing a bullet-proof vest at an anti-gun rally. Waiting impatiently for book from America. The day was so incredibly windy I couldn’t walk up to the shop for my Sunday chocolate biscuits because it left me too breathless.Got electricity bill out of letter box. It had been well-eaten by resident snails. Finished note-taking from John Shy. Watched a bit of aftrernoon TV. Decided to give TV a miss. Not in the mood for Little Fishes. Will get it out on DVD one day. Dipped a bit more into Boswell, then started re-reading Higginbotham’s The War of American Independence.Crashed again.
