It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and the Larvatus Prodeo team would like to invite you to have drinks on Sunday 14 December 2008 to celebrate the season.
Details are as follows:
In Brisbane, the Prodetariate will be meeting at 3.30pm at the Hotel Bravo at Brunswick Central, 455 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley;
In Sydney, Larvatus Proteans will be meeting at 4.30pm at the Warren View, 2 Stanmore Road, Marrickville; and
In Melbourne, LP people will be meeting at 4.30pm at The Alderman, 134 Lygon Street, East Brunswick.
Note that Melbourne and Sydney are both meeting at 4.30pm, but Brisbane is at 3.30pm (still no daylight saving up there in Bligh land).
Just come along on the day if you can make it. We look forward to seeing you. Ho, ho, and, well, ho.

Wot about Adelaide?
I’ve been meaning to ask: is “Larvatus Prodeo” Latin for “Cleanliness is next to Godliness”?
Is this relevant?
Well, we figured that Adelaide gets all the great cultural events so we wanted to give Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane a go.
Actually, it’s just that these are the places the team live in (unless we have an Adelaidean I’m not aware of).
Peter, I would have to check Wikipedia to see what Larvatus Prodeo means. You might be right.
If anybody wants to organise something in Adelaide or anywhere else outside BrisSydMelb for LP drinkers, I’m sure we could publicise it!
Absolutely, we could!!!!
“Still” no daylight saving in Bligh-land indeed!
Please amend to:
“Still” daylight saving in the southern states.
Tee hee, true steve. I voted against way back when.
Not sure yet but I could be in Adelaide.
Well… I’m in Adelaide, but I was only posting temporarily, and only on NZ’s election, and in any case we have house guests, not to mention 3 children, and other time issues, and I’m still not familiar with Adelaide’s best meeting and drinking spots (only been here a year, and those three children do tie us down just a little).
But, if some other more frequent Adelaidean (?) frequenter of LP wanted to suggest a place to meet on Sunday 14 December at 4.00pm, I would be keen to get there for a while. Somewhere downtown? Or does someone know a pleasant suburban pub that would suit us?
are we going for a webcam synchronised connection?
i know it is very 1997 and all, but it could be fun.
not that i am promising to grace the sydney event with my presents…
ho ho ho
The Warren View is actually in Stanmore Road at the end of the Enmore Road shopping strip, 10 minutes walk from Newtown station and right on the route of 423 and 426 buses. Get off opposite the Sly Fox Hotel.
Is it possible to compliment the organisers on a fine choice of venue for Melbourne? It’s usually around the 12th comment that one reads:
“Too difficult to get to”
“The bar staff hate me there, I can’t do it”
“Is it alright if I bring Tim Blair? I’m not coming if you say no.”
“Are you sure Piers Akerman doesn’t hold shares in it?”
Nice choice.
That sounds far too technological for me, glen.
Absolutely, via collins. That person was Robert Merkel.
I’ll put up a reminder next week.
Highly unlikely I’ll be there, but, Seasons Greetings to everyone. First and last time.
(Xmas can be a tax. You never know who believes in it and who doesn’t.)
I am likely to be there at the Sydney drinks.
I don’t know if that is more or less likely to encourage others to come along. The latter, I suspect.
I’ve always found you a very pleasant drinking companion, Comrade!
Why thank you Mark.
There you go, readers. Endorsement of my three-schooners past-it rambling!
Note that Melbourne and Sydney are both meeting at 4.30pm, but Brisbane is at 3.30pm (still no daylight saving up there in Bligh land).
.
Of course not. Terrible thing daylight saving. All of our cows have faded and the curtains no longer give milk. If only Joh was around. He’d call out the Coast Guard, the National Guard and the Mud Guard.
.
Are you sure you Bizvegas types can actually wait ’til 3.30pm to get pissed?
Adrien, I always pictured you as a teetotaller. I suppose it was your legendary stamina, and the tremendous accuracy of your prehensile typing digit.
Adrien, I always pictured you as a teetotaller.
.
Um-
.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
.
Oh that’s rich.
I will try my best…..
Adrien, your “ha ha ha” is going right over the page into the purple.
Hope you can make it, sublime.
I’ll hold up my hand as the non-drinker around here.
But I’ve been known to smell a good party 3 states away. One of these days I’ll turn up at something. Ever since I missed (by about 10 minutes) LP drinks in Surrey Hills a year or two ago, I’ve vowed to front up one day.
Hmmm Lobethal Bierhaus Ok for Adelaideans? On one of Fri-Sat-Sun
Sorry, Jovial Monk, that’s about as far away from me as it’s possible to get without having to stop for petrol. But I couldn’t come anyway, as I am still waiting for friends to make up their minds about whether something I may or may not be invited to is actually going to take place that weekend, and if so, on what day.
*grinds teeth*
Adrien, your “ha ha ha” is going right over the page into the purple.
.
Yeah that’s a riff of mine. I’ll try and make it. Should be super.
Aaaaargh, I’ll be at a wild garden party near Ballarat. But I could possibly swing by on the way back… it’d be with rugrats though. Not really fair on the drinking patrons.
Good on you, Adrien.
We are a family friendly blog. Hope you can make it. If not, might see you at the next one.
I’ll try to get to the Brisbane beano.
“Lobethal Bierhaus”?!? That’s not exactly the most accessible place in Adelaide …
At the risk of being boring, why not the Austral or Exeter on Rundle Street?
Or if you want to go up market, somewhere like the Apothecary or Universal Wine Bar or Belgian Beer Cafe or Fumo Blu?
Hee-hee, sorted I think, see you there!
What…just you & me so far, Liamista.
With you burbling in your beer, I can reprise my office Xmas party shenanigans (BYO Lampshade) then all we need is someone to play the spoons and we are well on our way to charging admission. Tentatively named the Room Clearers?
Tigs, do you play the spoons?
