Oopsy!

I hadn't seen it written down - just heard it spoken... anyway, my flatmate and I went to a very spiffy Italian midnight mass @ Holy Trinity on Villiers Street - cheesy pageant with dudes dressed up in campy robes as the Three Wise Men, and Mary and her crib. And lots of hymns in Italian with a tenor, and the priest playing conductor. And pannetone and sparkling wine on the church steps aferwards - the Italians certainly do religion with verve and gusto!

Something to do with the two 'n's' flowing together. The 'o' sounds clumsy between them, so its sacrificed for a more melodic flow.

I reckon we had a good one, tigtog: see Katz at 39 for a reminder of a festive event we all missed (I assume).

Katz,
I think that particular Santa might well come under trhe category of only in America. Though there was a nasty Xmas Eve brawl with knives and golf clubs, with one bloke half-dead in hospital as a result, somewhere in Oz that I read about somewhere in my Xmas net-surfing.

It is gratifying to read that the overwhelming majority of the population of those parts of the world formerly called Christendom managed to mark Yuletide without dressing up as Santa, shooting dead most of his/her ex-spouse's extended family and setting fire to the party venue.

All-in-all, Xmas seems to have augmented the quantum of world happiness, even if only marginally.

Well done, merrymakers.

Well, sort of, Ambigulous. I did ring up a Xtan friend on Boxing Day and wish them a happy (gulp) Xmas. To everybody else I regularly communicate with by e-mail I sent Ahmerbinijad's (sp.) Xmas message - which was pretty pointless as I discovered soon after that BBC World cut it off after about 5 seconds; and wished them all a happy Summer Solstice and happy Saturnalia.
Also told the kids from next door I was too busy to let them in about 5.30 pm yesterday. (Which I was.)But nicely, sort of, even though they're beginning to annoy me with their constant interruptions. But I've only got myself to blame, because I can't keep up the cranky old man shit for more than five minutes and they always talk me round. Trouble is, they know that I'm a bit of a softy underneath, and take advantage of it.
Anyway,
Happy New Year to all LP-ers. Once again, thanks for the fun. And may you cause heaps of international offence in 2008.
