FWIW, I used to know a guy (actually I knew a LOT of folks) who went to the (erstwhile) original “Fame” performing-arts high school in NYC. Once I asked him what the place was like. His droll deadpan was immaculate: “Oh, you know, we spent most of our time dancing in the hallways, going ‘Fame!’ and striking dramatic poses.” Unfortunately his deadpan was his greatest talent, and you can learn a good deadpan anywhere.

Break out the zimmer frame, it was the early-mid 80′s of course…

Can also blame going thru audition process with daughter yesterday for Performing Arts High School; avoided the big cull and thru to next stage which just involves getting a letter saying yea or nay in Term 3.

Still not sure, if the ‘fame high school’ option is the right one. File under parenting stress overload.

FDB: I did savour your reference to “be done with the joint”, surmising it was of joints of meat and boning. No butcher I.

FDB, is this a perfect time to resurrect the ye olde “Rock Against Work” gig? As a 90’s recessionista – these were always my favourite gigs, held on a Tuesday afternoon for years at the Hoey. Saw some great acts – fav memory – schooner in hand watching Dave Graney and whichever band, and through the door opening seeing people sitting in their cars at the lights in the afternoon peak hour traffic. Ah, yoof.
