The Guardian’s newsblog reports on the continuing mystery behind the identity of the author of the callgirl blog Belle de Jour, now a best-selling book, and soon to be a Channel 4 tv series:
As book followed blog, so did plans for a Channel 4 drama. Music journalist Sarah Champion, journalist and author Toby Young, and authors Lisa Hilton and Isabel Wolff were all “outed” as the writer behind Belle de Jour: all have denied it. What didn’t seem to be in doubt was that almost everyone – including Cynthia Payne – refused to believe Belle really was a call girl.
Now there’s speculation that the mystery blogger may be a man.
This may well be the blogosphere’s equivalent of the the Demidenko/Darville affair.
But isn’t it possible – in this postmodern world – that Belle de Jour is who she says she is?

But isn?Äôt it possible – in this postmodern world – that some don’t give a shit as long as the copy plays well with others and the customers are satisfied?
And regardless of who or what Belle de Jour is, some interesting , whimsical and provacative observations and anecdotes about some of the odder paths of male sexuality were well rendered at the blog in question.
And if it turns out to be a blog character piece after all, then I reckon whosever’s behind BdJ should get into the interactive psycho-sexual stress relief trade themselves for real. They seem to have a knack for it…and it would certainly pay better than blogging.

Hmm, Nabs, she/he/it would have made a bit of dosh from the book, I imagine.
