Mark, I don’t know what the problem is- could be too much info on your front page. I cannot scroll through it. My PC either locks up on your page or is very slow to scroll (scrolls 1 line per second).

I have a hot-shit vid card and 1Gb of RAM but the problem remains. Problem exists in MSIE 6 or Firefox 1.03.

    thanks,

    -weez

Weez, I can’t explain it – the site works perfectly well for me in both Firefox and IE. Could it be something to do with firewall settings?

    Perhaps Rob could help?

It’s because Mark’s a reformist through and through, weez. Change should be gradual.

I have no idea, Mark. It scrolls just fine for me, in both Firefox and IE.

I have the same problem. Scrolling slowed down dramatically when the style-switching script was installed. Something is causing it – either the new templates in themselves, or perhaps the style-switching script itself? Perhaps you could add the default WP 1.5 theme back to the list, Rob, just temporarily, so we can see if the scrolling problem goes away with that template?

It’s very frustrating, because comments threads here are approaching Back Pages-like fluidity and it’s so sluggish to load and scroll :(

    Change of subject.

Words a cat will sometimes respond to:

    Dear
    Darling
    Sweetness
    Hairy twit
    Stomach on legs
Somach on legs with mouth attached
Your food bowl is in front of the smelling organ in the middle of your physog
Why can’t you just follow your face?
I suppose you want me to walk you to the food hall again
    You furry idiot

    And so on.

Mark, I’ve discovered when you use the blockquote html you have to await moderation. I’m sure you knew this already.

This is unfair to people who comment in your absence. Evil :)

None of those work with ‘Ceska either, Mindy. I like the first one but since the only birds she sees in the back yard are Splendid Fairy Wrens (lovely birds, btw, but very small and juicy-looking, if you’re a cat) it’s not likely to faze her by much.

Just saw the RAAF flyover in Alice for Anzac day. Very cool, 2 F18′s made 3 passes, very loud and one extremely excited toddler yelling plane! plane! in my ear as I tried to cover his ears as the planes went close to the sound barrier. Apparently there were some tourists on the street below us (we were on a rooftop carpark) who scattered as the planes came over. Turns out they were Yugoslav tourists and last time planes came over like that, they got bombed. One of the locals who saw them asked if they were all right and explained about Anzac day. But what a thing to happen on holiday!

    Ooooh!

I wonder why we don’t hear more about Viking King Gorm the Old! He sounds like he’d be good fodder for the gossip mags.

Actually, surely the Danish isn’t the “world’s oldest living monarchy” – how about the Japanese?

Can you imagine the RWDB chorus of outrage if an ALP government was tooting about the benefits of “one single, centralised industrial relations regime”.

    But listen: not a peep.

But dont worry, you’re “PROTECTED BY LAW”.

Groovy, so instead of getting my union to represent and negotiate for me when they breach a term of my employment agreement, Ill just hire a brief and start a court case.

    What could be easier?
