Thereâs just no pleasing some people. According to the Sydernee Morning Herald, St Andrewâs Cathedral School is opening a new campus in Redfern. Andrew Bolt asks:
⦠why put the school in an angry tribal slum?
â¦
Why canât Aboriginal children have the advantages of a private school in settled, leafy suburbia? Isnât it patronising and demeaning to imagine the ârealâ? Aboriginal culture to be something best summed up by Redfern?
It saddens me to think that anyone could ask such questions in all sincerity. Even Bolt.

For one thing, Bolta obviously has never seen the main campus of St Andrews’ Cathedral School if he imagines that to be in settled, leafy suburbia. Urban canyons, mate, urban canyons.
Secondly, Fates forfend that a community initiative from the Redfern parish that the diocese has been persuaded to implement actually ends up getting established in that exact community, eh?
Pity we can put Bolta there be interested to see how long he stayed alive
If he got killed that would only reinforce his bigotry.
Careful Zarquon – don’t be misled by Bolt’s poor choice of language on this occasion.
