Trevor Cook recently interviewed me for the MEAA’s Walkley Magazine. Unfortunately, the bloggercon being organised by Peter Black from QUT which Trevor wrote about has had to be postponed til August. Congrats to the Walkley subeditors for coming up with a great tagline for the article!
If you want to find some of the most intelligent blogs around, look north, says Trevor Cook. No, not Asia. Queensland.
Update: Gary Sauer-Thompson has a couple of interesting posts on political blogging over at public opinion.

“[LP] now has between 3500 and 5100 unique visitors a day.”
No, it doesn’t.
According to the host’s stats.
All the different methodologies produce different results. But if we’re going to be picky, the sitemeter counter is regularly going over 3100 now. The “average” shown is since it was installed.
“The sitemeter counter is regularly going over 3100 now.”
No, it isn’t. It’s only gone above 3100 twice in the last month.
“The ‘average’ shown is since it was installed.”
Incorrect; the average shown by sitemeter refers only to the previous seven days. Your overall average would probably be below 2000.
Evidently, I’m not as regular a watcher of it as you are, tim. That was my impression. I don’t check it every day.
What’s the point? If I installed google analytics, I’d get yet another result. Or the Nielsen counter thingy.
Here are the server’s site stats for this month:
Tim’s hits are bigger than our hits! Probably bigger than my tits! Tim has a big blog! The biggest blog!
Ok, fine, whatevs, can we actually talk about the issues raised in the piece?
But not nearly as nice as your tits, Kimberella. And the latter attract a much more discerning, stylish, polite, and dare I say, lipsnigeringly luscious type of commenter, EIIDSSM.
If this is a metablogging piece, I guess the field is open to this sort of intervention from timbo. Quick work from 3:39 to 4:15, and still wrong. Hopefully he’ll repeat the error and Tim Lambert can get out the pinata …

??
Even if I do say so myself …
Even if he does say so himself, Mark.
Innocent Bystander Cab Sav is addling my brain! Apologies…
EIFSSAW – Even if Fiasco says so as well
EIFTPQRTHITTPDSSAW
Translation:
Even if the Pirate Queen referring to herself in the third person does say so as well…
Good name for a wine! Could sit alongside Marilyn Merlot, Cardinal Zin and The Full Montepulciano …
Well designed label, too. This is the sangiovese:

Kim writes: âTimâs hits are bigger than our hits! Probably bigger than my tits! Tim has a big blog! The biggest blog!â?
Claims such as these are more usually made by Mark Bahnisch, who habitually overstates LPâs readership (for example, once leading Crikey to report that LP was âthe countryâs best read political blogâ?).
Mark is at it again in the Walkley magazine piece, claiming stats that are in some cases nearly double the daily numbers recorded on LPâs public counter. In subsequent comments here heâs claimed an average Sitemeter hit count somewhat in excess of LPâs actual average, and regular above-3100 counts that arenât regular at all.
Considering how often Mark mentions LPâs popularity, he might take more care.
Yawn, tim.
I’ve already said your hits are bigger than my tits.
Mark was going by the host’s stats. What’s your problem with that? Have you done a comparison as to how all the different methods play out? What do your host’s stats say? Is there a reliable method of comparing readership?
Can we expect a scintillating expose from J F Beck?
Anyway, according to the sitemeter thingy, 2837 today. With 10 mins to spare. Of which small t tim is 1.
Want me to email you the weekly stats report? Just so you don’t inadvertently increase our figures by coming round here to check on them?
2844 now. tim is 12246.
I’m a B Cup.
Again. Here are the server’s site stats for this month:
Here’s last month’s:
I think this is a major scandal and I urge Tim B to write fourteen posts on it like he did when Chris Sheil made a speling mistake.
Kim writes: “Is there a reliable method of comparing readership?”
Using the same counting method might be a start. But that’s not the issue here, is it? Forget my hits being larger than your tits, Kim; it turns out LP’s bogus hit claims are larger, too.
LP is the bra-stuffer of Oz blogdom.
That would be “spelling”, Tim L.
Now you’re accusing me of padding my bra, tim?
That would be “irony”, tim b.
It’s like pressing a buton. He can’t help himself…
Well, I wonder how many hits he gets from Crete.
If little tim feels so strongly about it he should contact the mag’s editor and demand a correction.
