Wow, he’s really reaching, isn’t he. I suppose if you scrabble around in the bottom of the barrel for long enough, you’ll come up with a handful of small things that have nothing to do with each other, and if you’re sufficiently self-deluded you’ll then arrange them into random paragraphs.

The main impression this mad gumf gives is that Frank Devine doesn’t believe that people whose decisions can bring down governments (as we know from history) should actually read things before they sign them.

Well, Dr Cat, in columnist land, maybe she’s sneaking in RADICAL FEMINISM in a footnote while she pretends to consider bills before she signs them?

Who knows? Coherent thought obviously isn’t Frank’s strong suit.

Oh my god, what is their problem? I really don’t get it, I thought she was a pretty, you know, normal and logical choice for the GG. She really doesn’t seem that different from any other GG, except for the fact she’s a woman.

It’s not like she’s done anything outre or said anything at all controversial. I find it so strange, such blatant sexism, that I almost can’t believe it.

  4. adrian

Hard to believe that he’s the father of Miranda when she’s such a model of clarity and logic.

    Heh!

The real issue with Quentyn “Cromwellian Darkstar” Bryce is that she represents another step to total domination of the commanding heights of this country by Queenslanders.

Since 24/11/07 we have seen a gradual consolidation of power by those from the Sunshine state that has reached it’s zenith with this new appointment, yet the mainstream media, terrified of Pineapple-yellow cane-toad bombers darkening the skies has remained silent. I call on Frank Devine and Dennis Shanahan to wake up to the real threat to Australia’s prosperity: the legion maroon-jackbooted, bundy-swilling Banabenders, who stand poised to rename vast swathes of the country ‘Mexico’, ban our appaling native southern draft beer with their own diabolical concoctions, arrest NSWRL, all while muttering darkly about Syndey-Melbourne centrism…

Ah yes the loony right, how come they all seem to work for the OZ,apart from his daughter who seems to be Fairfax’s resident lunatic.
Do Pearson And Ackerman speak because if the do I,m sure Henier will get a run soon, poor old Piers was convinced she would be implicated by an investigation by the GG office, his acolytes hastened to agree.
The lot of them are pathetic.

    He’s a drunk …

the string “Cromwellian dark star” + “kowtow” + “hoisehold robot” + “girl from the bush” makes me quite certain that Frank Devine has taken to writing his columns with the help of the Terrible Crossover Fanfiction Idea Generator tigtog posted at Hoyden the other day. http://viv.id.au/blog/?p=2270

I really like ‘Cromwellian dark star’, it has BBC Period Drama potential – enough goddam Henry VIII and Lizzie I, get with some real political ferment!

Whatever he’s drinking, I wanna coupla cases.

Laura @ 9, Dark Star is a 1974 John Carpenter sci fi spoof film.

The DVD carries this on the cover:

    The spaced-out spaceship.

    Perhaps that explains Frank?

Citoyens! To les Barricades tout sweet!

Le honor der’ Marie Antointette downunder has been besmirched!

    Oh wait.

Leinad has revealed the horrible truth. The incubus that was the Joh-for-Canberra campaign, silently gestating in the dark for two decades, has finally hatched…

  15. Anita

‘Cromwellian dark star’ – too delicious, ROFL ROFL. So who spent too much time in the sun at World Yoof Day? Christopher P, well that goes without saying. Et tu Frank? Well, yeah …

  16. Paul Burns

Cromwellian Darkstar. Love it! But, really, apart from sacking recalcitrant Labor Governments, isn’t anything the GG does nowadays vaguely irrelevant. Unless of course they make pronouncements on Aboriginal rights etc, and various other things that drive right wing ding bats into printing even more insane diatribes, which in turn provides us with much entertainment on LP. And as for being a once boiler-suited radical feminist – ho-hum.

Leinad – this Queensland revolution is merely a sign of whats to come. As more than a few people have observed, “Melbourne is the past, Sydney is the now, and Brisbane is the future.”
