2010 is becoming an awful year for losing great singers and songwriters before their time. Ruby Hunter has joined Alistair Hulett and Kate McGarrigle in that Great Gig In The Sky.

Such sad news. Yet another indigenous woman dying before her time. Only 54 years old.
Yes very sad. Remember seeing her at the Blue Mountains Folk Festival almost 12 months ago.
Another good one gone.
she was no b.s. all the way….she’d give you hell if your mouth got in front of your brain..a brilliant woman..so sad and best thoughts to archie and fam.
Shit that’s sad. I didn’t know about Alistair either until then. One of the great gigs of my life was watching Alistair perform solo in the Kapunda RSL in about 1995. A beautiful romantic night with my wife…
So young – so sad. Condolences to her family.
I live in the same area as her, but this is the first I’ve heard of her passing away. RIP, Ruby Hunter.
Very sad news. We have seen her perform numerous times at FRL [Folk Rhythm and Life Festival] Eldorado Vic. Loved her songs and seeing Ruby and Archie on stage together. A very warm woman.
Feck, Bloody sad, I haven’t seen her perform for years, her strength, humour and capacity for forgiveness have always stayed with me.
Deeply saddened by this news. Condolences to Archie and all her extended family and friends.
A Great Spirit gone silent. All from Western Victoria and the Grampians in mourning for Ruby.
Awww, darn. She was (and is) such a compelling presence – I was in a support act for her and Archie at a couple of shows in the Blue Mountains many moons ago. Incredibly joyous experience to learn some of her material. Love and hugs Ruby, nobody could hold a stage like you.
Indeed. That beautiful soft voice lost to us now. Metta to Archie and all her family.
Sweet lady, may your spirit live on in all of us.
Hear! Hear!
