Pauline’s musical career never got off the ground. However, the “Obama is the Anti-Christ” crew in the US have their very own songstress – Anne Marie Harpen. One listen to each of the videos at the link will reassure us that, with Pete Seeger, Bruce Springsteen, Ani Di Franco, Pink. Indigo Girls, Sheryl Crow and the various members of the Guthrie family, amongst others, the Left in the US still has the best writers and best singers of the best songs.

All these discussions are genre-centric to a large degree. Of course there are more left-wing folk musicians, the two things go hand in hand.
Most of rock bands in comparison are conservative.
AC/DC, Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Metallica, The Ramones, Alice Cooper, Kiss etc are all conservatives or at least their lead singers are/were. Also the vast majority of country music artists are conservative, apart from the unknown lady mentioned in this thread.

True in a sense, you’re identifying a subtle but clear rift between a couple of schools of rock. Soundgarden, Nirvana, Jane’s Addiction, MC5, Sonic Youth, Red Hot Chillis and others are palpably left. Metallica started with a strong social critique, just look at the lyrics on their 2 good albums (puppets and justice), but have become too attached to the gold lint in their navels since.
Metal is a particularly funny beast, because there’s a subtle line between bands like Anthrax and Suicidal Tendencies (left) and Slayer, Pantera etc (centre to conservative, ironically) that is born out by some fierce fan tribalism. Happy to say I liked both though, and the heaviest bands I ever heard, Bolt Thrower and Godflesh, had a leftist streak…

Anne Marie Harpen has a beautiful voice and inspiring message. Perhaps if you removed the wax from your ears you would be able to understand, and maybe understand. Oh wait, I forgot that most of you can’t think for yourselves, or form an opinion of your own.

Why must the liberal left ridicule all they do not agree with. Can you not simply state your facts and not make them personal? Is that so hard? Or you must use Alinski in all that you do?
What a sad lot you are…..the best music, in all of music history, is that which comes from the heart. Technical brilliance is only as good as the soul which backs it up. I think there are wonderful musicians whose politics I abhor, and I think that there is musical talent–as exhibited by Ms Halpern–on the side of those with whom I agree. She has talent, her music is haunting and from the heart, and I, for one, love it. Unfortunate that there are so many people who cannot see beyond their personal talking points to take a moment to appreciate something outside of their own experiences.
What has obama every done to deserve to be president? He has never owned a business, never made a payroll, hired people, fired people. All he knows how to do is spend other peoples money. I would not piss on him if he was on fire unless I was pissing gasoline.
