I’ll look forward to it. Reading this blog has been keeping me sane during this ‘hell-ection’ campaign so far – good luck on telly but “stay brave n true”:)
Woohoo! Yay for us! I’ll be watching.
give ‘em hell.
Good one. I’ve put it in on the recorder. Speak to truth Mark.

Will do, folks!

I’ll have to fight for control of the remote! I may have to tape it to enjoy later.
Mark, You can borrow my peg if you like … for the nose.
Yea..Go Mark!
Don’t you mean you will be appearing on the tv version of The Drum at 6.05pm?
Or does QLD ABC News 24 have different programming?
I hope you’re more accurate than their news, Mark. They just had vision of Bronwyn Bishop and captioned her as Deputy Leader Julie Bishop!
I see now it’ll be a spot piece. Just tuned in, was having dinner.
Sock it to them, Mark. Unfortunately, I don’t have access to it. Will wait for your report.
Initial thoughts:
Nervous start, ooh purple shirt! like the tie, something wrong with the earpiece? Did they give you a point on the camera to look at?
I thought it sounded good, and I like only losing 3 or 4 seats in Queensland. Could be interesting if it is a hung parliament and they are looking for Independent support. Are you invited back?
Well done. Excellent summing up of their talking points. Agree with Mindy that something appeared to be sending your attention, outside of your thought process,to the left in the studio. Earpiece perhaps? My wife’s a fan now too.
Thanks, folks. It was the first time I’d done tv, and not being in a studio and being able to see who you’re talking to is rather weird! As is the earpiece… I think I was being distracted by the monitor, where I could see myself!
If it helps Paul Howse didn’t seem to be able to look at the camera either, and he was in the studio. Maybe you need to practice looking in a mirror or something.
@17 – Maybe, Mindy! I bet Paul Howes has had a stack more media training than I have (which would be zero)!
Stayed up late to watch myself – weird experience! Wasn’t as bad as I thought it might be – if only I’d looked at the bloody camera though!
Mark, I did a studio piece once. I thought I was looking right into the camera, as instructed, but apparently I wasn’t because this crazy producer was standing next to the camera and kept pointing at it. It was clear that I was mucking up his precious TV shoot. I think the real problem was that I kept being distracted by the crazy producer!
As I told you, TV wasn’t my medium.
Well done Mark. S’ & I were very impressed.
For some reason our Foxtel went kooky at exactly the time The Drum started…but we were able to watch it another way.
Wished you’d mentioned The Greens tho. And the Laborite in Dickson. Still, can’t have everything. TV journeys can initially be nerve-wracking and stuff up the memory. I know from experience.
you did very well. Highly articulate. And somewhat eccentric. Which we like.
Cheers

Just caught the early morning repeat. Good stuff, Mark!
