That’s an impressive effort to get that all on line in two days! I suppose it is all automated now, but still.

This is brilliant in a sad way – and I thought Nearmap wouldn’t be available until Sunday night so thanks.
I’ve confirmed something I expected was flooded and it will help in the acceptance process.

Thanks for this. Have to admit I’ve been sitting here plugging all my previous Brisbane addresses into it. Two of them flooded, the others all okay.

I love living in the information age.

One thing’s for sure, it really shows what poor form the what-about-me-er’s out at Moggill/Bellbowrie exhibited. It sucks to be without power and low on food, but that area was hardly touched by the waters compared to places like Yeronga and Fairfield. Complaining about being neglected = fail. Even more so since many people move there because its out of the way and hard to get to.

They wouldn’t have been half so isolated if they didn’t keep protesting the replacement of the Mogill Ferry with a proper bridge, either.

Peter, its not quite all automated. The HyperPod produces images on compact flash which still needed to be overnighted to their HQ in Perth for processing so its quite impressive that they are getting the imagery online so quickly.

This video has some details about the capture process. http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=498217326725

What is striking is how little of Brisbane was flooded. The vast majority stayed as sry as a dead dingo’s donga. Just as well.

Kim, the flyover was on Thursday afternoon, by the way.

    How do I know that?

I found my old Landcruiser on the map, parked in Spring Hill, that’s how. ;)

And it was interesting to see how the land that flooded this time at Jindalee and Westlakes mostly appears to have been parkland, with very few houses affected there.

Downstream of (roughly) the Bulimba Ferry, it shows an older image, though.
