Definitely nap o’clock right now. Need to recover some energy before it’s ham sandwich time,
Wow. First.
Yesterday mostly reading American Slavery American Freedom. Friends came round for Xmas drinks, fruitcake etc late afternoon. (T. Rudge and husband.) Found lovely letter in letterbix from a friend at Murwillumbah. A very pleasant Xmas surprise, since she ignores Xmas usually.
Watched DVD of Joan of Arc.
Xmas Day. Reading. Had a mate round for Xmas lubch. Cold ham and chicken, corn kerels, tomato, Spanish Onion, Bega cheese, pineapple, and my own concoction of cucumber soaked overnight in brown vinegar and Worcester sauce, light;y sa;ted and sugared. Its okay, but you wouldn’t want too much it. Cucumber invention was a bit bitter for my taste. Also drank Cascade beers with the meal. Sat around chatting. I could’ve made Xmas [udding and custard but we were too full.
Had a nap. Seny e-mail tp Murwillumbah ftiend.
A very nice Zmas. Enjoyed it muchly.
No Xmas for this little Jewish duck, but spent the day in a Korean motel transcribing about an hour of recorded interviews into Word. Too much background noise for a speech recognition program to deal with. Strangely satisfying. Then went to unwind at one of Kwangju’s fantastic jimjilbang — like a Japanese sento on steroids. Loooxury.
Only got two hours forty minutes @#%@#$ of interviews to go! Will save it for a long bus ride and the flight home, if my laptop battery holds up to the punishment.
What were the interviews about, Mercurius?
I went out on a traditional Japanese christmas eve date with my partner last night. A report of the activities and contents of a christmas eve date is on my blog.

I was having a v quiet Christmas (partner was out singing carols for his food at the Windsor) until the storm warnings came. Then the tomatoes were wheeled into the laundry (geez they are big plants – hadn’t realised until they came inside); then it was a matter of supplying myself with a candle and matches, and powering down at appropriate moments.
We were lucky, however: the really destructive cells passed us like the waters of the Red Sea allegedly did on one occasion. So no damaged roofs, no risk of flooding (only from the tomatoes – which I had only just watered).
My thoughts are with all who did not have so fortunate an escape as we did, whether in Melbourne or in any other part of the world.
And season’s greetings to all on LP. May 2012 be a year of delight to all of us.
