This week’s whimsy is brought to you by the tiger who is mothering five piglets as if they were her own cubs.
The story: A tiger mother lost her cubs from premature labour. Shortly after she became depressed and her health declined, and she was diagnosed with depression. So they wrapped up piglets in tiger cloth, and gave them to the tiger. The tiger now loves these pigs and treats them like her babies.
Please share any bits and pieces you have come across recently that have surprised, delighted, intrigued or otherwise positively engaged you.
NB: the weekly whimsy thread is a stoush-free zone

I wonder if the tigress will teach the piglets how to hunt.
No link to my whimsy, which is a bumper-sticker I spotted on the back of a car today:
“Is it true?
Or did you read it in The Courier-Mail?”
Not to burst your bubble of cute, but the story is a bit different to that. http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/tigerpig.asp
Thanks for the Straight Dope on the tiger-piglet story, Anne. And me a graduate of alt.folklore.urban falling for that one – oh the shame.
they could probably safely take off the tiger suits, the smell would be ‘family’ enough, i’d think. but crossing this and the bradley manning story in a whimsical way, all i can say is: pork hunt.
Terangeree @ 2 – I need equivalent stickers for Today Tonight and A Current Affair to give to my ex’s parents. They believe everything they’re told by those shows!
There are reports in the press that the tiny Pyrenees principality of Andorra is experiencing hard times due to a decline in the tourism trade. It’s time to release an updated version of Pete Seeger’s musical tribute to Andorra’s enlightened defence policy and budget priorities.
I wonder at what point they remove the piglets before they risk becoming a tasty snack? Suckling pig anyone?
I suppose sand surfing deet first into a live Nivaraguan volcano as reported on SBS last night (I think) could be considered whisy. Unfortunately I can’t see well enohu yo ptovide a bideo link so if some-one …?
Paul Burns @ 9,
Are you pissed, or just typing on an iPad?
Kersebleptes @10: No, Paul has very limited vision (as he mentions in the comment).
Oh, fair enough, zoot. Ta for pointing it out to an occasional visitor.
And sorry to Paul, if he is wearied by the comment…
Not wearied by the comment/ Thanks, Zoot. Though I won’t get an i pad now. “)
Re another bit of whimsy. Proests at the church pf yje nativity vashing each other with brooms because one of them swept in a part of the church that wasn’t theirs. There is a ladder thats been in the same place for 100 years.
Ah, well.
